Disney with a 2-year-old - Park recommendation
Hi! For those that have gone with little ones...what tickets are better to get? Just the Magic Kingdom or should we add on the park hopper option? Thanks!

We went when DS was almost 2.5---he loved Magic Kingdom---he also liked Epcot bc he loves Nemo & fish, liked running around the countries. We also did Animal Kingdom--he loved the Safari, but I am not sure it was worth it just for that.

DD#1 was 2.5 when we went and we did the park hopper. We did Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Epcot. When we go back we will do the same plus go to a water park

Depends how long you are going for!
Magic Kingdom has the most rides for young kids.
Epcot has Nemo. DS really liked it. but he went on other rides too.
Animal Kingdom has a cute safari but we had a short trip and I skipped it.

We are going for a week but the hotel does have an interactive water playground/pool, playground, lazy river etc. so we don't have to rely on the parks for the whole length of the trip. DD also LOVE animals/fish so I am thinking of going to Sea World...found a coupon online for buy 1 get 1...

For 1 week, you have time to do everything. I don't like live shows of animals (sea world) because of potential disasters like a few months ago. But I felt the same before the incident.

Re: Disney with a 2-year-old - Park recommendation
We did Disney last March. DS just turned 2. Magic Kingdom. We only did the one park (on the way home from Ft. Lauderdale). We ALL had a blast! I think its perfect for that age!

Re: Disney with a 2-year-old - Park recommendation
We took DD#1 when she was 15 months and again this past May when she was almost 3 (35 months). DD#2 turned 1 on the trip.
The girls loved in this order - 1) MK 2) EPCOT 3) HS and AK were a toss up and about equal
DD#1's 1st trip HS was our least favorite and AK was better for us - but this past trip it was more of a toss up. Depending on your DC will depend on what you enjoy more with those two parks - if your DC is into shows - there is playhouse disney, little mermaid, Muppets 4D etc so they would need to sit thru shows to really enjoy most of the park - but there are a few rides (toy story Mania which was a BIG hit this trip with both girls but last trip DD#1 didn't care for it - it threw her around too much) - and the Honey I shrunk the kids play area was a big hit this trip - BUT very hot b.c it is outside but under a canopy but there is no air in there.
MK is a MUST - EPCOT - both girls loved the park - there are several rides and activities for them - their top choices were:
Finding Nemo ride and turtle talk with Crush as well as walking around living with the seas (aquarium)
Journey into your imagination - and the interactive area after the ride was another big hit
Spaceship earth both girls enjoyed this - esp the interactive cartoon at the end
The boat ride with Donald in the Mexico Pavillion (DD#1 said it reminded her of its a small world)
There are MANY character meet and greets throughout the park including a LOT of princess ones and characters like Pooh, Alice, Marie (aristocats) etc.
We get a park hopper- parks like AK and HS for us are one morning parks. We go to a park in the morning leave at lunch time, nap and swim at our resort and return to the parks at dinner time. We prefer to go to EPCOT in the evenings since they have a lot of dining options. So we often do MK in the mornings then EPCOT at night- so I like having the park hopper - otherwise you are stuck at that one park for the entire day (you can leave an come back - but if you don't enjoy that park you can't go elsewhere - also if you LOVE it and want to return another morning you will have to burn a 2nd park day on that park rather than just returning in the morning then getting back onto your schedule in the evening. But if you want to save money you can forgo the park hopper. We never get the don't expire option and unless you plan to use a water park I wouldn't bother with the other add on options. The other advantage btw of having a park hopper is that on EMH (extra magic hour) days those parks can be MUCH more crowded than non EMH parks. If you have a park hopper - you can go to the EMH morning take advantage of having that extra hour to get on a lot of rides - but then you can leave and go to another park when it gets crowded - OR you can go to a quiet non EMH park during the day and only return in time for EMH nights when the park closes to non resort guests (if you are staying on site this applies to you) - the EMH parks are generally more crowded b.c people who don't have hoppers will be forced to stay there all day if they want to take advantage of EMHs - plus you will get the normal guest who doesn't plan ahead and goes to which ever park they want to that day - which is why it gets more crowded.
