Disney with a 2-year-old - Park Recommendations
Hi! For those that have gone with little ones...what tickets are better to get? Just the Magic Kingdom or should we add on the park hopper option? Thanks!

I don't think that with a 2 year old you're going to be doing much park hopping. You'll probably stick to one park per day so there's no need to do the park hopper option.

Re: Disney with a 2-year-old - Park Recommendations
I disagree! We went last year DS was 22 months. We park hopped EVERY day. DS loved the fireworks so we park hopped for that a few days (MK closed early for teh very scary halloween party some days) Other days we did AK in the AM, then MK in the pm. It was over 90 degrees when we were there so we would do a park in the AM, go back for pool or nap then do a park in the PM, some days it was the same park, some days a different one.
If money is a concern you can totally get away with just the one park tix, but if not, I think the park hopper is worth every penny!
ETA: We were there for 5 days and now at 31 months my DS still talks about going to the castle and the moon (epcot) and seeing the fireworks and the parade.
Also DS loved MK and AK, epcot he could have done without but he loved the fireworks there!

Re: Disney with a 2-year-old - Park Recommendations
My kids are 6 and two. We never park hop. But we are careful planners and do book all of our dinner reservations accordingly. We check to see which parks are open late or have shows we want to see like fantastic and then make sure we dine there. We always take pool and nap time in the middle of the day too. I just don't se any reason to pa extra for park hopper.

Re: Disney with a 2-year-old - Park Recommendations
After dealing with many clients over the years with very young children, I found there is no right or wrong answer here.
Much depends on what you want to do and see while at Disney, how flexible the little ones' sleeping and eating schedules can be, and your budget.
It's hard to list every conceivable scenario here, but suffice to say that the Park Hopper gives you the most flexibility during your visit. Not only for the theme parks, but also your dining options if you are eating on-property.
As someone suggested in an earlier post, you certainly can do Disney without the Park Hopper option with some planning - it just comes down to what is best for you and your family.

I'm not sure if it is the way you phrased it or not - but the tickets are good for all 4 major parks - you buy a one day - or more and it gives you entrance to any of the 4 parks - you only need the park hopper if you want to go more than 1 park in 1 day. You can get a 4 day ticket and just to one park a day.
If that wasn't want you were asking - I answered in your parenting post - but it really depends on what you want to do - how much time you want to spend. I like it only b.c we do one park in the morning and then EPCOT at night -Ak doesn't have much at night b.c they close very early most of the year. The most night life is at EPCOT - followed by MK and HS (if you want to go to fantasmic).

Re: Disney with a 2-year-old - Park Recommendations
we took DD, who was 2 at the time, in November, and we definitely used the park hopper.
We didn't run between 4 parks every day. But some nights we had dinner reservations in Epcot, but spent the day in MK, KWIM?
It was worth it, IMO.

You actually did tell me something I didn't know! I just assumed when it was called Magic Kingdom ticket that it was only for the one park. I thought park hopper meant more then the one park not just more then one a day! So thank you! I don't know if we will necessarily do more then the one park a day BUT MK is closing at 7 almost all of the nights because of the Halloween party so if we wanted to go to fireworks at Epcot or do something a little later then that, we could use the park hopper.

Have you looking into doing the halloween party (MNSSHP)? We did it when DD#1 was 15 months and she LOVED it. They have a nice parade, fireworks, no lines for the rides and some cute dance parties with the characters - DD got to dance with Mickey, Donald, pooh, chip and dale and a couple others. It was a lot of fun.
The hopper is not necessary - but it can make things much more convenient. If you go to one of the parks and it is really crowded or you don't like it you are stuck there for that day - (you can leave and come back to the park but ONLY that same park that particular day) - if you have the hopper and it is too crowded or you just don't like that particular park you can hop over to another one - or two other ones that same day if you wanted.
If you need to budget I would take out the hopper but if you can afford to leave it in I always use it - and so do many of my friends - but it is an item you can cut back on if you need to - but think about what you want to do before you make that decision. If you decide you LOVE a particular restaurant in say EPCOT (the park that has a LOT of dining options) then you can't go back to that restaurant or park unless you use another full day ticket in that park.
I always make careful plans before we go - but sometimes esp when you go with kids those plans don't always work out...LOL. We just went with DD#1 and DD#2 (almost 3 and DD#2 turned 1 on the trip) and we ended up switching around some meals when we were down there - we wouldn't have been able to do so - as easily b.c all the MK restaurants were completely booked solid and we had to go to EPCOT to eat or to another park or hotel restaurant.
