Disney with a 6 month old and a 2 year old? And a disney stroller question.
Would I be nuts to try it?
Would you rec I bring a double stroller or 2 singles? I have no idea how it works with park (monorail) transportation. I have a double BOB and I am not sure if 1. I would want to bring it for risk it being damaged on the plane and 2. If it would even fit on the monorail.
Any advice would be appreciated!!!

We did this with a 2 year and 6 month old, so I think my experience can be comparable.
We went with two strollers and it was SOOO much easier! We had a lot of people and extra hands to help, but two strollers was easier to fold on the monorail, easier to park, easier to navigate and a heck of a lot lighter to push!! Plus, you get twice as much storage space which is well needed!

I dont think you're crazy at all. We went when G was 2 months old
For ME, I would bring an umbrella stroller for the 2 year old and a mid-size/full-size stroller for the baby.

So glad to see others have done it with a toddler and baby! So on the monorail you have to take them out of the stroller? It will be just DH and I so I was thinking a double would be easier when he is on rides with my 2 year old or whatever but I am not sure.

On the monorail they can stay in the stroller (although at night when the monorail is packed - alot of people fold them up to make room for others)
If you take the tram from your car to the entrances of the parks, then the strollers need to be folded. I personally never understood why people make a mad dash for the trams when the walk is not that far at all. We never take the trams. I figure we are going to be walking all day - whats another five minutes?

Re: Disney with a 6 month old and a 2 year old? And a disney stroller question.
We are going in 3 weeks. I'm taking my DD#1 who will be 3 in June and my DD#2 who will turn 1 on the trip. DH didn't want to do a lot of buses or rent a car so we are staying at the Poly. It is easy b.c to go to the MK or EPCOT you just wheel your stroller onto the monorail you don't have to fold it up. We will have to take a bus to the AK and HS but we plan to spend the majority of our time at the other two parks so that will only be maybe 2 days of our trip.
I would love to bring my bumbleride indie twin but I feared it would be broken on the flight so we got a city mini double. You can get a bag for the plane for it and we will gate check it.
If you can swing a monorail resort that is the easiest but it certainly ISN'T mandatory at all to have a good time - it is just less stressful. Then it just depends on your comfort level - if you use a car remember you can park for free at the parks and your hotel (you will have to pay to valet the car but you can self park to avoid that fee). The only issue with rental cars is that you will drive to the park, park in the lot and then usually you will need to take a tram to get to the gate. Whereas if you brave the buses, they take you virtually to the entrance of the parks. So you don't have to pack and unpack the stroller over and over. But the buses can be crowded depending on when you are going so that is the down side but you don't have to pay for them and they take you right to the front of the park so it is kind of a toss up.
If you are bringing a 6 month old make sure you take advantage of the baby care centers. They are in the 4 major parks and have rooms for nursing mothers, rooms with high chairs to feed a baby, and and area with tvs or toys for older children to pay. They also have a little shop that sells formula, some baby food, infant and child medications like benedryl, tylenol, diaper supplies, baby suntan lotion etc if you run out of anything. There is also a nice changing area with tables that are cleaner than I think the changing areas in the bathrooms are.

Re: Disney with a 6 month old and a 2 year old? And a disney stroller question.
We are going in Aug and Kaydyn will be 2.5 and Ainsley will be 5 months. We are going with my entire family though. I think I might actually bring 2 stroller because our double is a pain to fold. As Michelle said, on the monorail you do not have to fold up the stroller you just lift it on. On the buses or trams you have to fold them up.
We've been to Disney tons of times (3 times with DD#1) and we've never had our stroller broken. We always check it at the gate. If you think your older DC will nap then it might be nice to bring either the double or two strollers that recline. We spend the entire day in the park so we def need the kids to be able to nap in the stroller if possible.

Re: Disney with a 6 month old and a 2 year old? And a disney stroller question.
I went with a 2 year old and a 9 month old, and then with a 3 and 4.5 year old.
We brought a double Maclaren both times. It was a breeze on and off the monorail. We even brought it on a bus once (maybe twice?) and even then it was great.
For us (and maybe this is just us, so take it FWIW) the double was more convenient because sometimes I would take the kids and DH would go on a grown up ride. He'd probably do the same for me, but I don't like grown up rides! We were with plenty of family members, but there were SO many kids that I couldn'r guarantee I'd always have someone to push stroller #2.

Re: Disney with a 6 month old and a 2 year old? And a disney stroller question.
I am going for the first time with my 3 and almost 2 yr old and after asking around A LOT .. it sounds like two sep strollers was the winning recc...bec according to more exp moms they said that if you want to sep ways for some reason it is easier to have the 2 strollers for that option (diaper change, ride, nap, food, etc) and the ease of folding on monerail and buses! SO I think that is what I am going to do
