Do any of you girls have Hanauer as an obgyn?
Currently I have Hanauer as an obgyn (although I have never actually had the opportunity to meet her yet).
Before conceiving, she cancelled my pre-ttc appointment twice. once because she went on vacation and the other time because she had an emergency c-section. it basically took almost 3 months to get an appointment with her and by that time, i was pregnant already.
I also had to wait close to 2 hours to see a nurse practioner/ultrasound tech the last time I was at the office.
I've read good things about her and her bedside manner.
Did I just catch her on off days or is she just too busy to give good care?
I'm trying to decide if I should start looking into a new obgyn.

Re: Do any of you girls have Hanauer as an obgyn?
I have her. I switched to her just before being PG. Then I saw her my whole pregnancy and now after the baby I am back with her.
I have waited over 1 hour to see her. I just get myself ready for it.
I have never been cancelled on though. I have had to see the nurse practicioner (which I love too!!) because I have some "scare" moments in my pregnancy and only the NP was available that very day.
She does have long wait. I will not lie to you about this. I have also just waited 10-15 minutes. But I think the cancellation is just bad coincidence.
It's up to you. I mean I love her. But you have to be "happy" to see your Dr. too.

I have Dr. Hanauer, and I love her! That office does make you wait, while you are there, or on the phone, and I just posted about the reception staff not being very nice. The other staff (doc & nurses) are very nice, esp. Kerry and Dr. Hanauer.

I have to wait 15-30 minutes to even talk to anyone everytime I call. Then they usually tell me that someone will call me back.
I don't know if this is common or their practice is just really busy????
I had posted once asking how long girls usually wait to see their doctor and the majority waited less to SEE the doctor. I feel like I wait longer just to talk to a receptionist.

Re: Do any of you girls have Hanauer as an obgyn?
So far I've been lucky with my appts. I think I waited about 10 minutes at my first appt. for the nurse practitioner and the most I've waited for Dr. H was 45 minutes because she was backed up because she got out of the hospital late. I mostly book appt. during lunchtime, maybe that makes a difference.
I would definitely give her a try before switching. But, in the end, you have to do what is best for you.

You are probably right. I should at least meet her before considering changing doctors.
I just feel like I am always waiting with them. I know it's normal to wait for doctors but everything is such a long wait over there.
I remember they called me after bloodwork. didn't mention if anything was positive or negative. i played phone tag with them for almost 2 days. they had me majorly stressed because i was wondering if my blood results came back good or bad.

They usually only call if it is bad news. Otherwise, Dr. H goes over the results of any tests with you at your next appt. I didn't even get a call after my initial bloodwork at 5 weeks. Dr. H discussed them with me at my first appt. with her at 8 weeks. I guess I'm pretty laid back since I assume no news is good news. I do notice that sometimes if I call about something and they have to call me back, it sometimes takes them a while, and sometimes I have to call back a second time. The problem usually is that none of the Drs. or the Nurse practitioner are in in the morning, so you usually have to wait until the afternoon to get a question answered (as long as it isn't an emergency).

I have her and always had to book an appt. a month in advance. I love her though. I haven't seen her since being pregnant, my first visit was with another Dr. who works on Saturdays. My next visit on Sept. 11th is with her.

They have Saturday hours? At least that is good news.
It's difficult for DH to come to weekday appointments with me so it would be nice if we could go to weekend appointments.

Re: Do any of you girls have Hanauer as an obgyn?
they are a very busy office. i tried them with my first pregnancy that didnt last- waited over an hour for the nurse the four times i did visit. (including the visit where i was mc'ing and puked in the waiting room)...I could not stand the wait when going there and calling on the phone, and when i was mc'ing i didnt feel like it was a straight answer about it.

I didn't even know this. Which Dr. does the Sat. appts? I assume it isn't Hanauer or Dolisi.

A lot of places will not call you unless there are bad news on your results.

There was no way DH could make all the appts of my pregnancy.
He came for the 1st 2. Then for the amnio and the level 2.
There is so many appts during the pregnancy.

Re: Do any of you girls have Hanauer as an obgyn?
I use her and she is wonderful. I switched to her when I got PG because I was seeing a NP in another office that swtiched practices. I have only met with her and Kerry and they are awesome. Compared to the old office i used to visit the receptionists are SO much nicer!
I usually try to get morning appointments and have had days where I've barely waited and days where I've sat for quite a while. She takes her time with everyone and is so calming. I've been very happy with the entire practice so far!
In regards to phone calls, I spoke with Kerry once early on... Dr. H has never returned calls but none of them have ever been an urgent matter. In most cases when I called with a question I had a call back within an hour or so.

Sophie is right here, you can't get mad at them for not calling you with results that aren't bad. That would be insane, especially with an extremely busy practice!!

Re: Do any of you girls have Hanauer as an obgyn?
I had her for my last Pregnancy.
I switched b/c IMO the office was getting too hard to handle. Shes very popular and I couldnt drive and wait for so long and it took me forver to get them on the phone this time and they wanted to give me an appnt for 4 weeks later, when they know I have issues that require RX's and to be seen ASAP when PG. And they were nice about it, but basically said, nothing they could do about it.
Dr . H and I sorta fell out too at the end of my last Pg and I was planning to see. Dr. Dolisi who I love, her partner this time around, but the office just made me nuts.
Is till would reccomend them though, I dont think its horrible, just too much hecticness for me as a very high risk patient.

Re: Do any of you girls have Hanauer as an obgyn?
I am a Dr. H patient and I really love her. I think that at times, the reception staff leave something to be desired. However, I absolutely love Dr. H and Daniela, the NP. Both have been wonderful to deal with, answer all of our questions and are very caring. My wait time varies greatly. I drive in from Queens to see her so I know I'll be there a while. It's just something I accept since when I am with the doctor, she really takes her time with me.

The time before I was only in the office a total of 25 minutes including my bloodwork, so it varies. Once you are in the office she never rushed you & takes her time to make sure you are comfortable. That is part of why she is always behind. She also is 3 blocks from the hospital, so she comes back & forth if she is delivering someone.
