Do ANY stores give out gift boxes?!
I hate buying clothes as gifts online because I don't get gift boxes.
I never usually buy gifts from Old Navy because they made you buy them. Strange, but I'd rather spend more $ at another store that gives them out than to have to buy them.
So far I've bought gifts from Gap, ON, NY & Co., Disney, American Eagle and none gave me boxes.
Some were just out of them, even if they normally sell them, but the Gap told me they were just not doing them?
I have a bunch from Justice (which I'd rather not put a man's shirt in).
I caved and bought a couple from target, but still not enough.

It's RIDICULOUS to me that stores don't provide gift boxes, I think its BS. You're spending all this money in their store, the LEAST they can do is give you a gift box. That use to be standard practice everywhere. Charging for boxes is cr@p.
Macy's still gives them out freely!!!

I guess with the way the economy is companies are cutting things like giving out gift boxes. Im a hoarder of boxes and I keep a stash because I usually forget to ask for them when Im at the store lol.

Yes! I love Macy's, I did shop there and they gave me some, but just enough for the things I bought, which I can't blame them for.
It's just annoying because boxes are easier for traveling than gift bags and I like to put things in boxes from the stores they came from.
I kind of understand ON not giving them out, maybe that's one way they keep their prices down, but the gap isn't as inexpensive. They should give them out.

I got boxes from JCP and hollister... I HATE when they dont give out boxes... Like really? How much does it really cost you and look what Im spending here

I just get mine at the doller store now since everytime i go into a store i either forget to ask for one, they dont have any or i have to pay for one.

I feel like stores were not giving boxes even before the bad economy . Everywhere I shop always "ran out of boxes".
I just buy my own but it IS annoying IMO

Back in the day when I worked at the gap we would always run out of boxes not too far into the holiday season. I guess I have learned to deal without boxes because I think I am still scared from people yelling at me like I was personally denying them the boxes and hoarding them for myself. It is sad how the level of customer service starting at the corporate level has declined.
I just recycle when I can and use a lot of gift bags !

I work in a clothing store people get so mad when we tell them we don't have boxes. I just don't understand it, they can go to the dollar store or target. No sense in getting so mad over it. I do understand for jewlery but not shirts etc...

I understand being mad at it! You're spending money there, why shouldn't they give you a box to put a gift in?
The Aeropostale one is particularly strange because doesn't Macy's own them? Or am I cray cray?

William Sonoma gives out boxes, and Tiffany has those nice blue boxes.
On a side note, the boxes probably cost between $.30 and $.75 apiece depending on size, print, etc. including shipping them into the various stores. Considering how many they could give out during a day that money could add up to hiring one or two more salespeople and I'd rather see someone have a job and have more help on the selling floor than to get a free box. It's usually a hassle to carry the flat, unfolded box around anyway.

I went to Target and had to buy a couple gift boxes! I was just telling DH the other day how I think it's ridiculous that stores stopped giving them out. I can't see it costing them that much, but who knows

Kohls and Sears were giving out boxes.
I've gone to Dollar Tree or the Paper Factory for boxes. Even Wal-Mart has decent priced boxes.

This is the reason why i always ask for boxes whenever i buy something throughout the year, whether it is for me or for a gift. That way i always have extras. And when I always ask for more than I will use. For example, if I bought two shirts which will ultimately go to the same person, i still ask for two boxes.

Lord and Taylor and Macy's both give them out freely. You should pick up a pack of gift boxes in assorted sizes. I got 8 gift boxes in assorted sizes for $6 at Michael s. I also saw them at Stop and Shop, Rite Aid, Target and Century 21
