Do any working moms have their children in Universal Pre-K?
I would love to put DS in universal pre-k (if we got picked), but I am completely confused as to how we would get him there and back since both DH and I work. We don't have anyone that could drop off or pick up either.
Do most universal pre-k's have a before/after school program that you can pay to extend their day a certain amount of hours?

Ok im in queens, so my answer is based on NYC oublic school system. In my school , there is an after school program BUT prek children are not allowed. They must be in Kindergarten+.

Nope.
My day care has a pre-k program but I pay for it.
There are day cares by me (Staten Island) that have UPK programs and all you have to pay for is before and after care.

DD goes to Pre-K in a Catholic school and there is both before and after-care. The kids can be in the building from 7am-6pm if needed.

Ok, so sounds like it depends on the day care provider...thank you to everyone that answered!

Re: Do any working moms have their children in Universal Pre-K?
My DD won the lottery for UPK and both places where they hold classes over extended hours. DD goes from 7:30am-4pm. She is in the UPK class from 9am-11:30am and then she is in a different Pre-K class before and after. A lot of kids do the same thing (some are morning session UPK and other are afternoon session UPK) Feel free to FM me for more info. HTH!

Ds#1 went to UPK at his daycare center. They took 5%off our bill.
Ds#2 goes to UPK at a nursery school coop (same district, just how the lottery went). I could pay for the morning and the hour in between, but dh wah, so between him and my parents we work it out.

It really depends on the school. They all charge different $ and offer different hours. DD's school offers before & after care.

My son is in a UPK class at his preschool so he just stays in the same class afterward. It's the same teacher and assistant all day. He's usually there from 9:15 to 4:45.
