Do houses in East Rockaway have full basements?
DH and I went to see three houses this weekend. We like the area but the basements were like 4-5 feet high, not livable. Is this the area or just the houses because they were old?

I live in East Rockaway. We are in a ranch and we have a full basement with high ceilings (I wanna say 10 ft)...

Some do, some don't. We have one but I know a few people in ER that don't. I think the further you are from the water the better chance you have.

My mom lives in East Rockaway and she also had a full basement. When we were kids we would play down there.

My parents live in ER (I grew up there) and they have a full basement, but it was never finished. WE did have a play area though and my mom has her laundry room, and my dad has his work bench and tool area. I totally miss that basement!
BTW, they are not near the water. They used to live in the Bay Park area and because of the canals, they had no basement.
