You pay a delivery fee don't you?
I believe 9.95 for same day and 6.95 every other.
Next time ask the delivery guy if he gets the $9.95 or $6.95 fee.
PS. if money is really, really tight. I wouldn't be using PP with those fees. Do you have anyone that can help you out by doing the shopping for you?

We also know someone who does it, he appreciates the tips. We usually tip $5 to $10, they bring food right into my kitchen for me.

technically, they aren't allowed to accept tips, so you shouldn't have to feel guilty if you don't tip.
that's not true. here is what the peapod website says about tips:
***It's entirely up to you. It is not expected but always appreciated. ***
i don't order from them because it's so expensive. between tipping and delivery fee, my order was so much more than when i went to the store.
i always tipped $3-5 though since they brought everything right to my kitchen

I don't do peapod, but I definitely would tip. You said his job is to deliver food - just like the pizza delivery guy or a waitress. They also deliver food for a living and you tip them.

Re: Do I tip the peapod delivery person?
I tip because they are really nice and bring all my groceries up the stairs and into my kitchen...if a UPS guy brought a heavy package up the stairs for me, I'd tip him too.

A waitress makes like $3.00 an hour and is an IRS tipped position. I don't think the peapod guy makes $3.00 an hour. He/she also drives a company vehicle so there is no wear and tear like a pizza delivery person's car.
With that said, I tip a couple bucks. I do NOT allow them beyond my foyer though...I don't want strangers coming all the way into my house to put them in the kitchen. My friends have them drop them in the garage.

Re: Do I tip the peapod delivery person?
I tip 5 buck usually. Sometimes if I dont have change i've done 3. But if its a big order and a lot of heavy stuff I do 5. In the beginning when I had free deliveries I would tip 10, now I longer tip that much.

I don't use them for the same reasons. I'm a "bargain" shopper-- I try to stick to a list and a menu plan, I really shop the sales, I use coupons, buy store brands etc. I feel like a good chunk of those savings are negated when you figure in the delivery and tip.
