Do most kids bring both parents to a birthday party?

This is our first party where we don't really know most of the parents well. I am getting worried that I won't have enough food.

Do most kids bring both parents to a birthday party?

DH does everything in his power NOT to attend birthday parties unless the parents are our personal friends.

Nope, not at all. Unless the families are friendly I find it's more common for the mother to go with the kid(s) herself.

If DH and I are both not working then yes we do both go. We like doing things together as a family on weekends since we never spend any time together during the week. That being said, we rarely eat at the party even when the parents have adult food.

I think it depends upon the age of the child and if it is the first child. I found that for two or three year old birthday parties where the invited child is an only child, then yes both parents will attend. But if the invited child has a sibling that is not invited then only one parent will attend.

I agree. My husband and I usually both attend. It is usually b/c we both work all week and we want that time with DS. In addition, depending on the activity I may need DH because I have back problems. However, if we had more than 1 child I am not sure if we would both go when 1 is invited to a party. I see a mix of situations at the parties we go to.

It's usually either DW or me, unless we know the family. Lately, I've been going to DS's parties, and DW has been going to DD's, and the other parent stays with the DC who wasn't invited.

This
well, for DS
Most parties we get invited to have been our friend's kids anyway. DS is only 2.5
We both work so we do things together on the weekends

usually DH and I both go to the party especially if it is on a weekend ~ since we don't see much of each other during the week. (weekends are our family time)

Exactly the same. My DD is only 3.5 and all of her friends right now are our friends kids so all the spouses usually come too because it's really a get together for us as much as it's a bday party for the kids. Chat Icon

We do but we are going with two kids. When they start getting invited to seperate parties I would think we would each stay with one of them. DH has gone by himself with them if it is before I get home from work.

Re: Do most kids bring both parents to a birthday party?

We both usually go to the parties. My DD is only 15 months so on the weekends we are usually out and about as a family, will go to the party and then continue on with our weekend. Also DD is VERY active, so it helps to have us both there or we would literally not be able to have a conversation or say hi to people the entire time.

With that said, we don't usually eat while there. We make sure DD is fed and happy typically have other plans as far as food for ourselves.

DH and I both go if we're both free. We get so little time to spend as a family that we like to take advantage of it when we can.

DH usually takes DS while I stay home with our other DS unless we are friends with the inviting family and we know our younger DS is welcomed.

The only reason he wouldn't is if my other daughter wasn't invited and then somebody needs to stay with her. otherwise, yes, he would come.

we do 99.999% of things together over the weekend. It's our family time.

Re: Do most kids bring both parents to a birthday party?

If it's a school party, only my husband or myself would go and I find for the school parties we have, only one parent comes. Family and close friends though, both parents would usually attend.
