Do personal checks you receive as a gift become invalid after time?
Anyone know? I know a lot of business checks are invalid 90 days after date on check, just not sure about personal checks. TIA!

Yes. I think its 90 days for personal checks as well.

This brings me back to the Seinfeld episode where Jerry cashes a really old check he found from his aunt and it made her broke.

After 6 months a check is considered to be stale dated.

We recently found a check in my DH's birthday card from my parents that was a couple of years old. We asked my parents if it would be a problem if we cashed it and they said no. My DH didn't have any problem at the bank cashing it.

6 months (180 days) is for any check that doesn't specifically state a different time

I've never had a problem cashing a business check after 180 days.
