Re: Do Real Friends
Yes, I guess. But, sometimes I don't want to hear the truth depending on the situation.

Re: Do Real Friends
yes... I tend to tell the truth more then I should. So my friends laugh when they ask me if a shirt or hair cut looks good, because I will tell no in a tactful way. BUT...if I tell you that you look good, you can guarentee Im telling the truth because of my openess. I dont think holding back helps anyone. I do believe in tact though. Saying "it looks BAD" is rude, there others ways to express yourself. PLUS one persons truth may not be anothers.

I agree with this. If asking my opinion I will always be honest. BUT if they are just venting or something, I don't have to come out with something that might hurt them for no reason other than it is "honest"

IMO sometimes friends need to say something whether theya re asked or not..ESPECIALLY when they know a friend is hurting and will only cause themselves more hurt...
And sugar coating thing imo is good but sometimes a true friend will just put it out there plain and simple...sometimes things can't be sugarcoated!

well i guess it depends on the specific situation then. if it was something major then of course you should be honest, but something petty I don't see the need... especially if what you are giving is your honest opinion .. it may be honest to you but it doesn't mean it is the absolute truth.

Re: Do Real Friends
well true....if a friend got a horrible haircut...i wouldn't think saying OMG YOU LOOK HORRIBLE
is being a real friend...
But when you see someone hurting themselves..WELL Sometimes saying exactly how you feel is necessary...
But of course in either senario it is an opinion

This is what I meant by my original statement. And something like a bad haircut was exactly what I had in mind. Although, if it was a bad outfit that I know they could change easily, that's a whole different story

Re: Do Real Friends
Ahhh but then there are truths that are in fact just that! And the friend doesn't realize it because they are SICK or just doesn't want to see what is in front of their face
That is the kinda thing i am talking about not haircuts gone wrong...
Although if asked i will tell my friend what i think
