Do they list taxes on MLSLI with STAR, or without?
I always thought most listed without, and I called the town to verify the taxes for the house we put an offer on, and it turns out they are listed WITH STAR. I feel a little taken advantage of, though I know it is the responsibility of the buyer to verify all info...

There usually a note if the taxes are with STAR.

I would not list it with star and if you do, I would note it.
Star is something you have to apply for and you don't get it right away.

I didn't think it was legal to list the taxes with STAR included.

Some list with, some list without. We looked for about 2 1/2 years and I would say most listed without, but there were enough that listed with that I wouldn't take anyone's word for it without checking.

Mine is listed with True Taxes and WITH Star.... i think... i hope.

Alot of realtors list with star and I always ask when I go to see the house. Also before putting in an offer you should call the town to find out the true taxes and if it is in Nassau County you can go to mynassauproperty and look it up yourself. Also you can see what next years tax increase will be and what the value of the house will be at next year

There usually a note if the taxes are with STAR.
That was the case when we house searched. It was always noted....but my husband usually checked the records with the town to verify the infor.
Beth- if you close by 3/1, you can apply for STAR with Brookhaven and it will be reflected on your Dec 09 bill.

TELL me about it! Ours was listed with ENHANCED STAR discount! Never stated on the listing. We wanted to pass out when we saw the difference.

They do list it with star most times, but I would always call the town directly, the current residence may have multiple reductions and honestly I dont trust real estate agents

I would call the Town Assessor's Office - get the form, complete it, make the necessary copies you will need, and then when you close, take the documents straight to Town Hall for processing by the deadline. If you miss 3/1/09 - you can't apply until 3/1/2010.
FYI also: Your driver's licenses will need to match what the house names are!
