-Medical expenses over 7.5% of AGI
-State bar association fees that the fed. gov't won't cover

Upgrades to your house relating to energy efficiency (windows, doors, insulation, etc).
Your cellphone bills if your job ever calls you on it and you aren't reinbursed by your job. Same goes for your cable internet bill. If you do any work from home you can deduct the internet internet portion of your cable. I think you have to have a certain amount of these bills in order to deduct them though.

- donations
- professional magazine/subscriptions
- seminars/classes to better your career
- uniforms (if your job requires you to wear black pants only that qualifies are a uniform).
- student loan interests
- mortgage interests
- child born that year (special credit)
- home improvement that result in energy saving (insulation, etc..)
- use of a home office within your house(but only used as a professional use not dual purpose)

i think most of them have been said, but we do:
mortgage interest
student loan interest
charitable donations
also, there is a deduction for teachers and both DH and I qualify for that
and things like our
pension contributions, 401K, life insurance, disability insurance all come out pre-tax anyway.

my DH is an independent contrator so in addition to the above posts, he also can do a percentage of the house expenses (electric, water, etc) for his office.
