Yes, we set a limit and then both ignore it 
This was us!! So we gave up on setting a limit. Though this year we're considering buying a "couple" gift. Possibly something for the house.

We've never discussed a limit.
Same here. Christmas is the one holiday that we spoil each other. We don't do big gifts for our birthdays or our anniversary.

I dont work, so dh does sent a limit on how much I can spend, but he doesnt follow that same limit when it comes to buying me things. It makes me feel bad when he goes over the top and buys me $$$ things, and I buy him socks

We never set a limit, but we are both conscious of what our family budget is and shop accordingly.

We always say we're not buying each other anything, that we'll buy something for the house or whatever but we always end up spending a couple of hundred dollars on each other anyway. This just might be the last year we do that since we'll have a baby to spend all our money on next year.

No set limits, but we always tend to get each other one nice gift, along with a few necessities, like underwear , so I would say we spend a little over $500 on each.

We send eachother links of things we want too. No limit for us either.
Sometimes I wish we had a limit, so neither of us would go crazy, but until then..it's a windfall of gifts.

we don't set limits- we just buy what we know the other person wants or would like- usually it winds up being around 400-500- sometimes more, sometimes less-

Every year we say we aren't going to spend too much but don't set a limit. It never works out that way though, we both end up spending more than expected.
