Do you believe in the Chinese Calendar for baby's sex?
I will be starting IUI's next month and was wondering if anyone believed in the Chinese Calendar to predict the sex?? Was it true for you if you did it? It is age you will give birth and the month the baby is due, yes or no? Mine was true when a friend did it for me at work with DD (33 + 6= 39)

Not sure to be honest.
It was wrong when I had my son but I did IVF and that I think alters the outcome since its no longer based on cycles etc when someone is medically interferring. Everyone else it has always been right for.
Keep in mind you have to use your CHINESE age at conception, NOT your regular age. Your chinese age will make you older.

Re: Do you believe in the Chinese Calendar for baby's sex?
My Chinese age??? the woman at work did it for me and I thought I was having a boy, when she did it she said it was girl and said she had been doing it for almost 40 years and it has always been right? Not that chart that I saw..maybe it is not Chinese cause the chart was wrong for me... she took my age and the due date month and added them to get an ODD nunber and said that odd means girl and even would meant boy?? anyone do this??

Its based on Lunar age ( and the chart represents lunar cycles)...so you have to use your chinese Lunar age or it will be wrong.
The chinese count the time you spent in the Womb as "age" ..and since its only done in years...your almost always 1 yr older in chinese calendars.
So when your doing those charts and it asks your age, its a CHINESE chart, so they want your CHINESE age, not how we do it in western cultures.

Not only was it wrong both times for me--and yes, even the Chinese age one--but I can't see how in the world this thing could be "true" considering it is the man's sperm that determines the gender.
I voted for the last option.

Re: Do you believe in the Chinese Calendar for baby's sex?
Anecdotally, I've heard of way too many cases of it being wrong (roughly 50% probably.... hmmm coincidence?)
Scientifically, it makes no sense. There are so many factors involved (some fathers don't make boy babies, no matter what......, position of the mother at conception, father taking caffeine before DTD, how long cycles are, etc, etc.....), that it can't possibly be accurate.
How do they account for fraternal twins that are male and female?

Believe in it.....I don't know if I'd choose that word. It was right for me both times though.

Re: Do you believe in the Chinese Calendar for baby's sex?
No! Anything that is right SOME of the time is not to be believed IMO. It's fun to look at but I don't know how anyone would rely on it for accurate results
