Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
Everyone keeps telling me that our next baby is going to be a terror because Andrew is soo sweet.
Is there any truth to this?

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
I think it really could go either way...
that said, my nephew( baby 1) was very quiet, very sweet, an easy baby. My neice,( baby 2) is a terror, shes adorable, but such a little diva, screams about everything, started throwing fits at like 7 months...
Friends of mine baby 1 is high maintenance, and baby 2 is a dream...

People told me that all weekend.
"Logan's such a good baby. You should stop now because the next one is always worse."
Nice. Especially considering DH is the youngest in his family.
And is the best in every way.

I think that's one of those "old wives" tales.
However, my first child was (and still is!) an absolute dream...and #2...not so much!! #2 was a difficult infant - although not the worst in the world by far - but she's also a more challenging toddler too.
And everyone told me after DC #1 was born that I would never get that lucky twice. I almost feel like they wished it on me!

its a HUGE fear of mine. Ella was/is such an angel, I'm worried about #2.
My cousin got lucky with 1 and 2, but 3 was her devil child

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
No, they both we/are really good. Sarah had colic, Andy has the food allergies. Other than that they are really good kids. We've not had the "terrible 2" thing at all with Sarah. Neither one of them hits, bites, kicks, etc. No tantrums. Sarah gets mad if Andy plays with her toys when she's tired, but she just cries, she rarely takes it away from him. He usually just hands it to her if she starts to cry.
Now that I've said that they are both going to wake up from their naps and be holy terrors.

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
it's an old wive's tale type of thing. Although in my family it is SOOOO true. second children were all difficult children...I was the third, and obviously the most perfect.
I just hear that you get opposite of what you get the first time. Is that actually true, who the heck knows.

Speaking from experience, it's a cr@pshoot each time.
However, I don't know one family that has 2 terrors.

My son was the perfect infant! He became a spirited toddler. I always wonder if and when #2 comes if I will be so lucky to have another like him!

Nope. My DD was a wonderful baby. She only started getting hard a little before turning 2. And now DS is 4 months and he is a great baby too.

I don't know, but I hope it's true b/c DD#1 was a terror and I could really use DD#2 to be one of those easy babies i keep hearing about!

Well my 1st was a dream baby and I think everyone wished #2 to be a terror and she was!! and #3 is now giving her a run for her money so in my case it was truth.

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
I had the perfect first child. I mean, I couldn't ask for anything better. Never an ounce of trouble.
Lauren came along when he was 2. She was very good for the 1st year. she ate well, slept well, didn't cry too much.
then she hit 1 year old and it all went down hill..... She is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of her brother, in every way. She is a tough cookie, cries a lot when she doesn't get her way, is into everything, and doesn't listen for crap!
If she had been our first, she would have been an only child. I am thankful for a great first year with her, I didn't feel the adjustment from 1 to 2 was hard at all!

I had the reverse. I had the hard one first. And I'm glad I did since that was all I knew, so now Molly is like a dream. She is super easy and so low key.

I did believe that before #2 was born, but she was equally as great of a baby as #1 was.

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
We thought DS was an angel (which he is, of course... ), but DD was even better behaved, and easier to deal with than DS, so it was almost the opposite for us.

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
My uncle always tells me "God tempts you with the first one and kicks you in the a$$ with the second"
For my family, it has always been true. Obviously I don't know first hand, but I sure hope not

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
Not anymore.
I was so worried that DD #2 was going to be the devil's spawn... DD #2 is the sweetest, calmest baby.
I think the old saying holds true - "God doesn't give you what you can't handle."
