Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
I hear that one all the time.
The one I hae been hearing lately is that girls are way harder than boys.
I always wonder what these people's think they will accomplish by telling me this....

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
Wow! I'm so glad this thread was started. DH and I were JUST talking about this. We definitley want more kids and we are most likely going to try and become members of 2 Under 2, but, we shall see. My exact words to him the other day were "Im nervous now because Bryan is SOOO good, my Pregnancy was GREAT...Im so nervous about having the complete opposite next time around".
Obviously, Im it's an old wives tale.

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
Well, even though I know it could go either way, I would have to say yes, based on experience. My DD was an angel baby, so sweet, mellow - I say that she tricked us into having DS 14 months later. And what holy terror he is!!! I mean, hes adorable but is SUCH a spitfire. If I had him first, I would have waited MUCH longer to have #2.
However, I will say that it is so interesting to have kids with different temperaments. You come to appreciate things you never would have with the easier one!

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
For my SIL her first was colic and not an easy going child until she turned 1. Her second was the easiest baby I ever met but once she hit 1 she was a little more daring and now that she is the middle child will act out sometimes and she is 4.
Now from my own experience so far. They in general are good kids. They were/are difficult and easy in their own way.

Not really. I think it's just chance. Although, I have 3 kids and they got progressively easier personality-wise. My 3rd is an angel baby - if he was my first and then I got a holy terror after, I think I'd be shellshocked.

I don't believe it.... Nate was a good baby and Jayden was even better. He started sleeping 5 hours when he was 2 weeks old.

We've had our hands full with the first one so I am hoping at least the opposite is true. While of course we love DD, we hope the next child we be easy going.

I don't believe it either. So far DS #2 is 2 months old and is good of a baby as DS #1 was. I'll let you know in a couple of more months.

Everyone keeps telling me that our next baby is going to be a terror because Andrew is soo sweet.
Is there any truth to this?
I have no idea how much truth there is in that but I laughed out loud when I read this because I am always thinking the same thing, exactly in fact, because my DS's name is Andrew also.

Re: Do you believe that if you Baby #1 is great that Baby #2 won't be?
if there is truth to this then i am hoping there is truth to "if your baby was an angel they will be a terror after they hit 2" and vice versa.. because then my next will be a terror as a baby but not after he/she hits 2!! and i dont think i could handle another terrible 2 phase!!! (DD is 4 and sometimes still has her moments )
i hope that all made sense lol

I have this fear as well. Baby #1 was a difficult newborn, but was definitely an easier infant and hopefully toddler.
I can tell you not feeling as great with preg #2 as preg #1

Well Ds has been a pretty tough kid. He's a joy, but he's also a terror. I'm banking on having another one just like him, and I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's an easier.

THis was a huge fear of ours too. GIanna was such a sweet baby and we thought she was easy, but I have to say now, so far #2 is easier.
Amelia started out to be rough cause she had and undiagnosed milk allergy and acid reflux. But as soon as we got her on neocate and prevacid, she totally changed. I have to say, she's much easier than Gianna was at this age.
Gianna was so clingy, fought her sleep, amelia will sleep anywhere, anytime, with anyone. Gianna was a total mommy's girl, amelia is much more social.
You just never know, but i do believe that's a total old wives tale.

Well, that's rude... I have no idea obviously...
