Do you bring your toddler to the OB sono apt?

We are expecting our 2nd DC (about 7 weeks along). I want to hold out until we see a doctor to tell anyone, so I took a day off, and we are going at 9AM on the 29th of August. Should we bring our toddler (who is between 2-3 years old)? I want to, but not sure. Its an early morning AM apt so we shouldn't have to wait to long. And I don't want my family watching him because they will get suspicious. Plus, immediately after the appointment, if everything ok, then we'd tell both family member. What do you think? Because of scheduling, our 1st DC will most likely be going to a lot of appointments anyway. I also feel who else loves kids more than a OB/GYN.

I brought mine once and decided I would never do that again! DH couldn't enjoy it as my son wouldn't stay still. He wound up walking out of the office and playing with my son. So we left him home for the rest of the appointments.

see, I would bring him in the umbrella stroller. He has come with my for my annuals and did ok, so I figured, he would for this as well. I wouldn't think of not doing it without him in the stroller.

DS has been coming to all sonos since he was 14 months old. It was nice to have him there. He was blowing kisses at his little brother on the big sono screenChat Icon

We brought our DS when we had #2, DH just held him and showed him the baby on the monitor. He was fine.

The only sono DD came to was my 20 week, as we had noone to watch her.

She kind of freaked out a bit at first because she didn't understand what the sono tech was doing to me.

DS was almost 2 and came to my appts. He was never any trouble, I always brought his notepad and a pen to entertain him.

We did not bring DS to the first one or the 12 week - we have the level II this week and we are bringing him. He is older though - 4, so he will really understand what is going on and be into it.

When pregnant with #2, my OB had night hours so I rarely brought my son. With #3, DS#2 (3yrs) came to almost every appointment unfortunately. It was a pain at times but what can you do? Luckily somehow I managed not to have to bring him for any internal appointments!

I brought DD with me to my first one last week. I ended up waiting for THREE hours and by the time I left there I was ready to lose it. I was completely unprepared because I called for an appt. that day and they asked me to come in right then so I assumed i'd get right in. She was good for about an hour and then lost it completely. She was so hard to entertain because I had NOTHING with me.Chat Icon

Since you're going to tell you family after anyway, I'd ask them to watch him and say you'll tell them why when you pick him up.

My DS is not patient, and would never sit still in the room, so I would never bring him.

Just to throw it out there, my OB and the place where I went to get sono, have a no children policy. They wont' throw you out, but mention to you you can't come back again with your kids.

that is ridiculous IMO, I always brought my DS because I had no choice. My DH works 15hours a day and my mom and MIL both work full time. I literally had no other option.

I always brought my son, he was 2 and would sit in his stroller with a game or snack ad flirt with the girls in the office.....he was fine and never once gave me a problem and I saw the doctor every 2 weeks my entire pregnancy.

Re: Do you bring your toddler to the OB sono apt?

we brought 2 1/2 yo DD to one sono appt and i'm glad we did. she sat on DH's lap and was very intrigued by what was going on. I don't think she really understood that that was the baby on the screen since i didn't really look like a baby but i still look back on it as a nice family moment Chat Icon

That's terrible! My OB welcomes kids. They even have toys in the waiting room.

It also seems kinda ironic I mean jeeze they're in the biz of bringing kids into the world, right?
