Do you donate to the Salavation Army when you walk into a store?
I always do -- whether it's a $1 or $2 or change in the bottom of my bag.
I feel guilty if I don't.

if I have change, sure
sometimes I have no cash or coins
also, I don't feel guilty if I don't do it all the time. I worked at the mall years ago, and I couldn't donate every single time I went to or left work.

I don't....I donate enough throughout the year to various organizations as part of my company's corporate giving campaign.
I don't feel guilty about it.

Yes...not every time...but if I have change I will.
And if I have the little boy I'm babysitting I make sure I have change so he can put it in the kettle.

I don't donate to the Salvation Army but lately I've noticed a lot of stores asking me to add $1-$10 to my total to go to St. Jude's. I feel terrible not giving money to them and always say yes.

The answer for me is no as well but for a different reason. One of my friends who works in the prison in PA told me that every year at xmas time the Salvation army brings in gifts for the Pedifiles, murderers, rapist, etc....thats where the money goes. No thanks!!! My money goes to St. Judes, and The Veterans Association.

I wasn't either. I would like to know more on this.
I donate because when we were younger and were on Social Services we were given vouchers for clothes from them. And it's something I'll always remember.

The Salvation Army in the U.S. has been the topic of some controversial discussions about discrimination against homosexuals in their hiring practices.[27][28] The New York Times reported that the Salvation Army believed it had a firm commitment from the White House to issue a regulation that would override local antidiscrimination laws. A disclosure of The Salvation Army's request "outraged some civil rights groups and lawmakers," and resulted in an immediate reversal of a previous promise to honor the request.
The Salvation Army maintains that they were "not trying to get permission to discriminate against hiring gays and lesbians for the majority of its roughly 55,000 jobs and merely wanted a federal regulation that made clear that the charity did not have to ordain sexually active gay ministers and did not have to provide medical benefits to the same-sex partners of employees."[29]
The Salvation Army's position is that because it is a church, Section VII of the U.S. Civil Rights Act of 1964 explicitly guarantees its right to discriminate on the basis of its religious beliefs in its hiring. To reinforce its position, it threatened to close all soup kitchens in New York City when the city government proposed legislation that would require all organizations doing business with it to provide equal benefits to unmarried domestic partners.[30]

I used to give often, until I saw one guy at the mall sitting on a bench, ringing his bell, while smoking a cigarette. Haven't donated to them since.
I do, however, donate at least $1 pretty much everytime I'm asked at the grocery store or pet store.
