I do it quite often bc whenever I have a free moment, I will pickup the phone & do whatever "personal" matters need to be done.
When it comes to birthdays, I usually will leave a message & if I get around to it, call back later. The message is my backup method in case I don't get back around to calling...

I do. specifically and purposely on mother's day to my MIL. My mom passed away and the day is hard enough as it is.

I am not really a phone person. If it is for a Birthday, I'll call when they are home, however, anything else, I leave a message.

I do this...and I do it for birthdays also! The only reason I do it for bdays is because if I don't...I forget by the time people are home from work! So, as soon as I remember I call!
