Do You Ever Question People in Your Life?
Lately it seems that people that I thought were really important to us are proving otherwise.
Do you ever question people in your life?
I think we are good people. We try to always do what's right and always be considerate of others and we're finding that not everyone is like this.

I keep my expectations low so I do not get disappointed. It keeps me sane. I cannot hold everyone to a standard that they may not be able to reach.

Re: Do You Ever Question People in Your Life?
Without getting into too much detail, I just feel like little things.....such as, not taking our feelings into consideration and just doing what they want, and not worrying about the consequences.
Another individual, if they are having a problem with someone and they are telling you the story and if you are quiet or if you don't agree with them, they just cut you off.
So many people say that if there's negative energy in your life and it's bringing you down, remove the negative energy......I'm starting to think these people know what they are talking about!!!

Yes! And I learned to distance myself from them and it makes my life less stressful. ETA: I don't think it's wrong to want to be treated the way you treat others.

So true. But if its too late, I just distance myself. I have no time to deal with nonsense.

Re: Do You Ever Question People in Your Life?
I have cut people out over the years for various reasons. After a while you realize that they are not benefiting your life in anyway and it is really time to part ways. I am satisfied with who is in my life now

I completely agree.
Not saying to repeatedly accept poor treatment. I know for me, setting high standards would only lead to disappointment by some.

I question it all the time! Let people prove themselves to you. Don't give the trust out without them earning it.

Yup... I definitely question people in the family. Moreso now than ever before.

Yes, especially after giving and giving freely, then you realize, they haven't given ANYTHING back.

ITA. I used to think that I expected too much of my friends, because I was always being let down. But then I realized--friendship should be a comfortable, natural thing. If it's taking more effort than it's worth, it's time to cut them.
In the past 3 years, I've "let go" of about 4 friends that I felt were doing me more harm than good. I have enough problems as it is, without having to worry about friends who are dragging me down emotionally!

Re: Do You Ever Question People in Your Life?
Honestly no, except for my friend who is also my best friends fiancee. He very much hurt me last year, was not a good friend when I really needed it and basically stabbled me in the back. We have become pretty good friends again and Im happy about that. It took me a long time to get past what he did and I was the better person. I have known hi for years. But I do always find myself asking and questioning if this is gonna be the day hell do it again. I dont know if Id be able to forgive him twice.

ITA. I have cut out 3 "friends" and I feel much better and I don't even miss them so that tells me I made the right decision

Well said!
I have done the same.....some were cut out by a disagreement that couldn't be fixed, some cut out by default because of their continued association with the previous group mentioned & some cut out because we have less & less in common as time has gone on.
My group of friends that I have now are totally & completely different & do not know my previous circle of friends in any way.......and I like it that way too.....

I sort of see what you mean
When I parted ways with a friend a few years ago......we also had to distance ourselves from the group as a whole & it was lonely & sad for a while......
But I feel that I have acquired better friends for having more time to be out & meet new people now!!
It gets better!!!

Re: Do You Ever Question People in Your Life?
I've learned not to make such an effort with some. I gave and gave and never received anything back. Now, I just don't make the effort and I don't expect anything out of them.

Re: Do You Ever Question People in Your Life?
Lately, I know this all too well. In fact, I'm in tears right now thinking about the people in my life in the past year alone who have made themselves unavailable in so many ways. It just stinks. I almost feel bitter and that's just not good.
I commend those who don't let it get them down, I wish I wasn't this sensitive

Very true! I've been burned many times in the past. Life is too short to be chasing these so called friends around.
