Do you feel it's a plus to be walking distance to shopping/eateries, etc?

I love the fact that I can walk to the train every day and it's a short walk to our little town area. I can also walk to 3 different grocery stores if I had to (some further away than others) not to mention all the town shops, restaurants & bars. It's a definite plus to be able to walk to a bar and know you don't have to worry about driving home.

if I found the house of my dreams but it wasn't within walking distance of stores, I would still get the house.
But it def is a plus if you can walk to some stores. I walk with DD all the time.

Absolutely! I love being able to put my DS into the stroller and walk to get lunch, ice cream, go out to eat, etc. It's great.
