Do you feel like the bad friend now that you have DC?
Honestly, since I'm the only one of my main group of friends to have a child, it's getting very difficult. I'm MOH in a wedding in May and my friend wants us all to go into the city one Saturday to get our dresses. I want to take Ryan b/c I only get to see him 1-2hrs a day Monday - Friday so weekends are my time with him. But I feel like I'm the drag always having an excuse b/c I have the baby. I don't want to be that person, but I don't want to sacrifice my time with him.

Re: Do you feel like the bad friend now that you have DC?
My friends EXPECT me to bring Athan and get pi$$ed off when I don't - they are all single and LOVE to have the baby around to hold and play with. Last week my girlfriend had her hair trial for her wedding and when I showed up she was actually upset I didn't bring Athan to the salon with me. I told her I wanted it to be "her" day - she said not to be silly and that she was expecting Athan to be there and told the hair woman all about him.
You aren't "that" person. You are a person with a baby. If you are just picking up dresses, not sure why your friend would mind if Ryan went with you. I would just ask her what the plans are for the day, and then tell her it's your day with Ryan so he will be coming along too.

It's difficult too b/c it's down in Soho - so it's not like I can leave him with my mom for a couple of hours and be home - it'll be a few hours, if not the whole day.

Bring your baby and don't feel bad about it. Your friends will catch up soon and in an instant they'll get it. Besides, they'll probably want to see him. I know I want to see him!
All of my friends have kids so I'm not hte bad friend, I'm the one who just recently got it.

You just reminded me to invite Beth to White Post - I haven't seen Amelia or Ellie yet

If it were me - I would check with the bride-to-be and take Ryan with me. Stay as long as Ryan is having a good time, and then leave. Your friends "should" understand that while you are meeting your responsibilities to them, you also have a bigger one - your beautiful son. Plus Ryan is still little - it's not like he will be running around at the dress place or anything like that. He is just a little chunk of love and you should take him and enjoy your day with your friends and your son.

Ok, I checked with the bride and she doesn't mind me bringing him at all - said he is one of the girls - so that's a relief. Now the challenge is how to get Ryan into the city without it being a disaster!

Does Ryan like to be in a carrier like a Bjorn? We took Athan into DC and he hung out in that thing all day and didn't make a peep because he was too busy looking at all the people and stuff. After I fed him, I put him back in - this time facing me - and he napped in it for an hour as well. I find that easier than taking a stroller sometimes.
