do you get kind of depressed on your birthday?
I am turning 28 on Monday and I am so sad, as I am approaching 30 I get more and more depressed on my birthday, seems like just yesterday I celebrated my 27th bday   ,

Not for my birthdays, but I get a little sad on my kid's birthdays, they seem to be growing up so fast.

No. There is no stopping (unless of course you die!!) of birthdays from coming.
Age is only a state of mind, IMO.

Just to make it clear, when I say depressed I don't mean "don't want to get out of bed, crying all day thinking about the day depressed", I mean just feel a little sad that time flies so fast, before you know it next bday is here, I am not afraid of getting older, I just feel like as you get older time goes faster.

My birthday has never been the same since 1994, My Mom's birthday is the day after mine and she passed away in 1994. So, Birthdays are not to happy for me.

I was depressed, for 27, 28, 29, and 30. Especially 29, that was a bad one, because I knew it was my last in my 20's. 30 wasn't so bad because DH threw me an awesome party. As for 31, that's tomorrow and so far I feel fine, no depression, but no really excitment about it either. It gets better though, don't worry and enjoy you're birthday, it's going to be a great one!

Ditto.
I always get excited about my birthday but I feel like it's a hassle to get people over to have cake and buy a present for me, like it's "just one more thing to have to do for the holidays".
I don't get depressed about getting older, I'm still like a little kid, I'm happy to be growing up!!

nah..... never did... Every year I get a bit wiser... so B'days are good in my eyes... I turned 36 a couple months ago.
As I told one of my undergrads (who rudely stated I wouldn't want to be YOUR age  ), 'you couldn't even bribe me to be your age again ' he was shocked, becuase he thought his age was the best to be (20). I told him he can't drink legally, and he has years of schooling ahead of him before he has any chance of fiscal independence.
I'm DONE with school.... all 10 years of higher ed..... I have a job and make my own decisions... life is good

I never felt old until this year. And it's mostly related to watching my kids grow up so fast. I guess I never really had any perspective on it until them...now I realize how fast the years go by.

I'm 28 and I can't believe it...I get depressed thinking about 30 approaching. I don't think aging is cool...so no, I'm not psyched about it.

Last year I celebrated my last birthday...25.....This year I will be celebrating the 1st anniversary of my 25th birthday. I look at it as 25 is the last milestone.....you get to rent a car. Now that I can do all of that I wish to stop getting older. I know in time i'll have to adjust my "age" but the plan is to really be 60 and have people still think i'm 45

OMG I am so glad that I am not the only one feeling that way, ever since my DD was born , just watching her grow up so fast makes me realize how fast time flies by  can't believe that last year this time I was pregnant and had plenty of time to get ready for the baby
