Something is wrong with my hand. I have been having a hard time writing and it has gotten progressively worse over the past 2-3 years. It never hurts; it's just uncomfortable to hold a pen and feels really weird...almost like I never learned to hold one! I believe the bones in my hand may be misaligned...

So what doctor treats this sort of thing?

barring any trauma to it, it could be neurological.

Start with your regular doc and go from there.

My guess is that he/she will send you to a orthopedist and then if that doesn't turn up anything, a neurologist.

My free diagnostic (Chat Icon Chat Icon ): could be carpal tunnel syndrome

Dr: regular dr. He/she probably will refer you to an orthopedist or neurologist.

There are 2 tests to rule out carpal tunnel symdrome you can try. Tinel test and phalen test.

Phalen Test:

A test for carpal tunnel syndrome in which both hands are held tightly palmarflexed opposite to a prayer position, creating at least a 90° angle between the forearm and the hand. If the test is positive, numbness and tingling are produced when the hands are held in this position for approximately 30 seconds.
