Do you get really stessed when you have company coming?

I do....We are having our parents over today and I just freaked out over what I am making.

It is just stressful anyone else???

I try not to get stressed - it will all work out fine and they will enjoy not cooking themselves so don't worry

YES! I hate entertaining. Just our parents I don't mind that much, but DH is constantly inviting his friends & their DW's/SO's over. I feel like my house has to be spotless, my meals perfect and my presentation outstanding.

= Major freakout for me!

Yes! Even though I love entertaining, DH and I are not the neatest people so I always feel like it's a big production to have people over. One of our New Year's resolutions is to keep our apartment neater so it's not such a big deal if we want to have people over

At first, yes, but now it's gotten easier and DH has become more helpful.

Yeah, I get stressed. I worry that the place isn't clean enough, or the food won't be good, or we'll be boring hosts. Just relax, have a drink, and it'll be over soon.

In general I dont.....

BUT..

I always get really stressed out when one of my kids has a NEW friend come over for a play date or a sleepover....I always get really stressed out over the new friends parents seeing my house for the first time..I dont know why.

YES!! Not if my friends are just stopping by for bagels, but if people are coming for dinner, I get all crazy.

i definitely do!!! i HATE entertaining. even if its just very casual having some friends over to watch a movie or something.. i still get totally overwhelmed and stressed that the house has to look perfect and everything has to be in order...
and forget it when DHs parents come to visit! they live in PA now, and we bought their old house from them... MIL never worked so it was always totally spotless when they lived here, and i feel like it has to be completely spotless like she always kept it. and, since they stay for a few days, its not just one meal that has to be perfect, its 6 or 7 lol i start freaking out a month before they come!
but, one time my mom said something that i try to keep in mind... she said " they're not coming to see your house- they're coming to see you". and let us know how it went!

i totally stress when i have company and i figured out i dont like having company because i just cant enjoy myself.

I really don't. I get a lot of help from my husband and to be honest, it's just someting I enjoy doing.

What I do to make things easier is prep all the food I can the night before like cutting the veggies up for the crudite, make all the dip (which always tastes better after setting overnight) marinate meat if need be, that way I have more time to socialize with our company.

Another thing I do is set the table the night before.

All these little things help the following day.

no way, I LOVE entertaining, it forces me to deep clean and get lots of things done in the house, I put mu ipod on and I am in my glory.

I always do. I always feel like I have too much to do and too little time to do it. When I was a kid, I never understood why my mom was in a bad mood while preparing for company - now I know!

In the past I would get totally nuts & my DH started saying he didn't want to have people over because he didn't want me to freak out. Since then I've calmed down about it, I've realized everything turns out fine whether I freak or not & if I forget something nobody notices. DH is really good about helping when its a big party too.
I really love entertaining so I realized I needed to chill to out.

I do, but every time I have company I learn another lesson.
When I have a big menu I write out what temp and time everything is so I know when to start cooking it.
