Re: Do you go out and leave the appliances running at home?
We leave the AC on at my mom's for the animals at at FH's because it's a basement and it has to really be on..we've left a few times witht he washer on, which I don't like to do, but I'd never leave with the dryer or oven, both are gas

No, I never leave appliances on. It scares me way too much. I know I would be anxious the whole time wondering if my house was still there.
Me too....I get so nervous.

Re: Do you go out and leave the appliances running at home?
I would leave with the dishwasher on, but never the laundry. We have GOOD friends who had an older house, they left and had the dryer on - someone happened with the electrical outlet - it sparked, started a fire and when they came home, everything was destroyed

Re: Do you go out and leave the appliances running at home?
I don't because I don't want to take the chance that something could go wrong. I never leave the dryer on after a friend's house burned down from a dryer fire. I also won't leave the dishwasher on after my mom had a wooden spoon fall down onto the heating coil and catch on fire. I've also occassionally had plastic things fall down and start melting on the heating coil. If I left something on, I'd be worrying the whole time I was out.

Re: Do you go out and leave the appliances running at home?
We don't leave anything running anymore!
About 2 years ago, I turned on the washing machine and went out to my friends house to drop something off. When I got back, it sounded like the water was running (and I was thinking that I took a while to get back, so it should be done). When I went down to the basement to check, my laundry basket floated by! We had to bail out 7-8" of water! Now we always pay close attention (even when we are home) when appliances are running. You just never know what can happen.
