Do you have carpet in your bedroom?

DH and I both grew up in fully carpeted homes. He really wants carpet in the bedroom when we move into our new house. Right now, we have nice hardwood floors in there, and I'd be happy with an area rug.

I'm just curious whether most people have carpet or not these days.

When we renovated our home, we were on the fence...
we decided to go with hardwood in our MB,
and we put two long area rugs on either side of the bed.

I love the way the bedroom looks with the hardwood,
but have to tell you, I really miss the "coziness" and the feel of carpet in the bedroom.
If I had to do it again, I would probably do carpet!

There is not a single piece of carpet in our entire house. It's all original hardwood

No - but when we re-decorate our room we will add small rugs.

We had HW in the BR but DH really wanted carpet (coziness factor) so he won that one. But the other BR downstairs (our "den") we didn't cover up with carpet.

We have carpet in only 2 rooms in our house and our master bedroom is one of them.

I thought I would feel the same way - I have always had carpet in the bedroom and I really liked that. However, it seemed a shame to cover up the lovely floor in our bedroom. We got a really great area rug that's on the side of the bed and I really don't miss the carpet at all.

I recommend trying the hardwood - maybe with a piece of remnant or an inexpensive area rug. If he really doesn't like it after a couple of months, you can always carpet later!

We have carpet in our bedroom Burgundy. (solid color) and in the livingroom multi (burgundy,green white, tint of blue) med to light wall to wall. My feet love great padding and soft carpeting.

One thing i hate is carpet.

I have a dog, who has accidents, and i also plan on having other dogs in the future, and something that skeeves me out is if the dog pees on the carpet, which happens even if a dog is trained, when they get older, they cant help having accidents.
It skeeves me that the pee soaks in underneath into the padding and i just feel like its impossible to get clean.

And also if something spills on the carpet, it takes more time to steam clean it, or wash the rugs and let them dry.


We are redoing our home right now, and we got wood floors, on the 1st and 2nd floor. We have wood in the kitchen as well. And all wood in the bedrooms.

I know wood has to be refinished over time, but i am hoping to have most people take their shoes off to save the floors.

We have carpet and after much debate we are carpeting the baby's bedroom too...I like hardwood and have it throughout my house, but in the bedrooms we are sticking with carpet for the cozy factor.

We close the doors to the bedrooms when we aren't home so the dog doesn't have access to them and we leave weewee pads for her in case she has to go.

Carpet in our Bedroom only. The rest of the house is original hardwood that we refinished.

we only have carpet in our bedrooms (which I love) and the rest of the house is hardwood with area rugs

Yes in our bedroom, our DH bedroom and we ordering for our new baby's bedroom.... Everywhere else is hardwood floors...

I definitely hear what your saying with pets. We don't have any, thats why we have carpeting. I looked at it this way to, if I got tired or the carpet got dirty I could take it up, I also have all hard wood floors underneath the carpeting.

Yes, we do. We replaced the carpet when we moved in.

If wood floors were already there, we would have left them and got a large area rug.

No our bedroom is hardwood, but I wish we had carpet in there. It's so cold on the feet in the morning

Yes, in our BR the hallway upstairs and the Baby's room we have berber that we replaced when we moved into the house. The upstairs of my house is only plywood and we didnt have the $$ to intall hardwood up there. I do love the coziness factor... but would have preferred hardwood..

The rest of my house is hardwood with a few area rugs.

The bedrooms and upstairs hallway are getting new carpeting. There are hard wood floors underneath the existing carpeting - but they arent in great shape. For now we're going with carpeting. Years from now I'd like to have hardwood with area rugs.

Yes. I love the feel of carpet on bare feet!! I would have liked to do the whole upstairs, even the hallway, but DH would have preferred no carpet and I admit that I like the look of the wood floors but the feel of carpet!!!

Had carpeting in all room (minus the kitchen)

Changed to flooring in hallways, living room/dinning room leaving the bedrooms (2) with carpet
