Do you have the highchair pushed up to your table - w/o the tray?

I was at a friends house today Chat Icon and she has the highchairs pushed up against the table (no trays)

When did you do this? I kind of like the idea that he would technically be sitting with us at the table.

Any thoughts?

Oh - and I'm so sick of cleaning that tray!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My mom keeps telling me to do this.

I think I am just going to 86 the high chair and switch to a booster tho. Without the tray.

yes, I have a chair for my Noah, not a high chair. I like that he can eat with us, and I hate the tray, too much cleaning for moi.

I have one of these

We don't do this, but it's definitely a good idea! I *have* done this with the Fisher Price booster seat, though. I'm tired of cleaning the tray, too!! Chat Icon

Bryan is in a booster chair for dinner.
For breakfast and lunch he's in his high chair or booster.
I agree, the booster chair w/out the tray is sooo much easier.

Re: Do you have the highchair pushed up to your table - w/o the tray?

We never had a real highchair...always had the space saver one. I nixed the tray about 6 months ago, and just push it up to the table. I still only give DD either her elmo bowl/plate or a paper plate, because I don't want my dishes getting thrown to the floor. DD is pretty good about keeping the plates on the table and only throwing the food on the floor knowing the dog will eat it Chat Icon

It looked so nice and didn't stick out at all

And, I would think its's easier to clean also.

Besides, I have these adorable Backyardigan placemats that I've been dying to use for him.

I'm going to give it a try tomorrow!!!

Re: Do you have the highchair pushed up to your table - w/o the tray?

just wanted to share that if anyone will be placing their child at the table in their boster without a tray please be very careful. I have a high table with high chairs and I didn't realize that there was a trim of wood under the table so when I had my son sitting at the table without his tray he had kicked off the trim and the entire chair went back on the floor with him in it. (caused a hair line fx to his skull Chat Icon ) Now I know that the hight chairs are prob. more likely to fall back as to a regular chair but just figured I would share what happend to my ds because I would never want this to happen to anyone elses child.

No I have the booster seat on top of a regular chair with the tray but I could remove the tray and put him by the table by us.

I did that for Robbie since he was about 1 or 1 1/2 years old. He actually ate better and it was easier to clean for me because he was at the table. I did this until he was about 2 1/2 and then he started using the booster seat

These are by a company called Babydan, however I am not sure if they are available in the states. Stokke also do a line of these kinds of chairs called the Tripp Trapp, here are some pics of them.

I do it sometimes, depending what i'm giving him to eat. He eats his string cheese this way Chat Icon My chairs are a light beige fabric so I'm always afraid hes going to throw food and stain the chair next to him !!

I tried but the way my table is their is a piece of wood that makes it so you can't get close enough and she pushes herself away from the table. We just pull her in as close as possible.

Re: Do you have the highchair pushed up to your table - w/o the tray?

I started doing it early on with finger painting...

he starts out eating at the table with me, he is the slowest eater in the world...so 20 minutes at the table, then I put the tray back on and wheel him into living room(small apt, all I do is turn seat around) and he sits for another 30 minutes without getting bored.
