Do you have to pay for incoming text messages
on your cell phone?
I've been getting a few solicitation text messages lately and would like to know.
TY
eta: is there a way to shut off the text feature? (I have Verizon)

Re: Do you have to pay for incoming text messages
yes unless you have a plan I believe. It is annoying paying for advertising.

Re: Do you have to pay for incoming text messages
Unfortunately you can't turn off the text message feature. I just spoke to Verizon Wireless earlier this week since recently I've been having the same problem, and it certainly annoying paying 15 cents for each spam message you receive. Verizon recommended that I go to www.vtext.com and under the preferences feature on the left there are options to block all text messages that originate from the web.

Thank you! I just had this start this week, and it is usually in the middle of the night. No one else texts me from the web, so I might go ahead & do that.
Is this something new? It seems a lot of Verizon customers just had this start happening?

Re: Do you have to pay for incoming text messages
Why can't they turn off text messages? I know that other cell phone companies will do it for you. That's really irritating.
