Do you keep a tablecloth on your dining room table?
I love the way the table looks without it but it is taking a beating because we tend to put things on it.

No. We only put a table cloth on when we are going to use it. I prefer the way it looks without.

I do have a tablecloth & runner on my dining room table. We got a table from an aunt when we moved into our house. I am not too fond of how it looks without it. Once we get our dining room set, I will only use a runner

We just got glass tops made for our dining room table and buffet. I was always stressing that it would get messed up and someone suggested thsi to me to protect teh table. I love it and am so happy we did this, now I don't have to worry all through dinner!

Only when we're going to use it.
If I'm going to place decorative objects on the table, I put adhesive felt to the bottoms so that they don't scratch the tabletop.

we always have a table cloth and pad on the table... sometimes my dog likes to jump on the table and look out the window...
i would love not to use anything i just love the table.... maybe we will have a piece of glass made.... i wonder how much that would be?

Im not a fan of tablecloths but if you want to use something to protect it you can get those folding table mats (that go on top of your entire table top) alot of stores sell them now along with dining tables but Ive seen advertisements for companies that custom make them.

right now we have a tablecloth because its holding so much crap until we move into our new place but my plans are not to have a tablecloth, just a runner.

same here - did the pads fit? I know even with the pads you need a tablecloth on top because they are ugly.

No. Our table is treated and there is no need for pads and/or cloth however, I like the like w/o the table cloth anyway.

I used to have a runner before kids b/c we usually ate on tv trays in front of the tv. 
We don't have an eat in kitchen so we use the dining room table for all meals now so I don't bother.
