Do you kiss your baby on lips??
Hi,
Ever since Ava was born, my DH and I have kissed her precious little mouth. No one else, but us. Well maybe my Mom, but that is it.
Well, last night, I was assulted by my family. Aunt (Nurse) and other Aunts (germophobics) that I am CRAZY for kissing my daughter on the mouth, esp in Flu Season??
Anyway, I got very upset. I just feel that she is only little once and I am going to get as MANY kisses as I can before she is 14 and EMBARRASED! :)
When she was really little, we use to kiss that precious mouth, now at 17 months we do sometimes try to give her our cheek but she pulls our faces around and hits us on the kisser.
I will admit, this might be a semi bad thing. My sister tried to kiss her and give Ava her cheek and she did that same thing to her. Obvioulsy, I don't care it is my sister and her God Mother, but now what do I do if she does this to strangers.
Did I do something wrong, be honest.

We've never kissed Caiden on the lips when he was little, but when he started to give kisses to us on his own how can you not? 
We haven't kissed Connor on the lips, only on his cheeks!

I smooch on the lips. When she kisses me, its always on the lips. Have you seen my baby? How could you not ???

Me three! Ive always kissed Julia on her lips, so does DH. I wouldn't want anyone else to, but its funny when my family askes Julia for a kiss she bends her head down---lol (kiss this instead)

I love those little lips and I love to kiss them. I kiss his lips, cheeks, neck, everything. As they get older you'll be able to teach DD what's appropriate. Hands are the real source of germs so I would worry more about that. If someone said something to me I would still kiss his little smooshas....

We've never kissed our kids on the lips - checks, necks, belly, hands, back - yes.
We ran into a problem back when Joseph watched Spiderman & tried to mock a passionate kiss he had just seen. I explained that we all have our special kisses & that type of kiss was for Daddy. Then we made up his special kiss (which is on the palm).
You can vary it to only Mommy & Daddy get kisses on the lips because that's your special kiss for your family. Other people get kisses on the cheeks.

It's weird. DH and I kiss both kids on lips, cheeks, belly etc. but when the ILs kiss Emma on the lips it kinda grosses me out Although it's ok for my mom since she is around them all the time. But no one else. Everyone else is a cheek.

Not typically but only because I am usually "mushing" her and showering her with kisses on her head, cheeks, neck, etc. But now that she is learning to give kisses she goes for the lips so I guess we've started giving lip kisses.
My only concern is I really don't want her kissing other people or kids on the lips... So I'm not sure how we'll handle it if she starts that.

I always kiss EMily on the lips and now that she knows how to give kisses she puckers up for us to kiss her on the lips and then when we do it she says "MWAAA"

We never have kissed Julia on the lips -
to me its not appropriate and Ill tell you why.
Her 2 yrs old boy cousin parents kiss him on the lips all the time. Now every time this boy sees my Julia and even his 10 month old sister or other children - he leans over and kisses them on the lips to greet them or out of nowhere gives them a big ol'wet one on the mouth - too me thats gross and not appropriate -that is just not the way you greet, your sibling, cousin and anyone else.
Of course they don't know any better - but I think starting that trend could be a doom for disaster. Im constantly telling her little cousin - "no, not on the mouth - and his parents laugh - like its some big joke".
P.S. We kiss our daughter all over - but the mouth is so slimmy, they often drool and we can pass along germs to our kids as well as them to us - I just don't get the concept of kissing them on the lips.
