Im confused. Everyone keeps saying its good in power outages BUT as long as you have a regular push button phone and not a cordless you would have a phone?

my aunt did, and when we were cleaning out the apt, my grandfather wanted to return it to the phone company.
apparently it was a rental from like 40yrs ago -- now that is old school

OMG...i remember rental phones...Am I that old??
anyway, I remember a story not too long ago about a lady that had rented her phone for like 40 years.....they figured out it cost her like $30k for the phone with the charges over the years!!

My Dad
He worked for the phone company for 30 years too
He was right to keep it. It's outlasted all other phones we bought for at least 25 years, has the best voice clarity, and doesn't go out in a power outage but yes, it's a pain to dial out from so it's not used for outgoing calls.
My parents have their old one in the basement, but as my mom buys here umpteenth cordless in the last couple of years, she reminisces about how the older phones lasted so long and we are so quick to just throw out now and buy new.
