Re: do you let them CIO
I do, I let usually give it about 10 minutes before I go in. Usually if he doesn't go back to sleep after about 10 minutes, he wants some hand holding.

I would let him cry if it was the middle of the night.

Re: do you let them CIO
DW is against CIO, so we never did that when DC were infants. However, I convinced her to try it out now, since DD is 20 mo, and was crying several times a night for no reason. Some times, as soon as I opened her door, she would lie back down and go to sleep, even before I could do anything.... Only took about 2 days, and she is sleeping so much better now!

Re: do you let them CIO
It's so hard to do but yes. DS has been acting up at bedtime and wakes up during the night sometimes. He's 23 months and I feel like we are back at square one again some days. We're having baby#2 any day and I think that is why he's freaking out a little or just the age. It terrible now because he'll cry out "maaaamaaaa" or "daddddddda" - it's so hard.
We also did this when he was about 9 months old because I just couldn't take it anymore and he was great until recently.
Good luck.
