Do you let your kid eat mud?
I am watching a video of someone's ~18 month old play in a mud puddle. The mom wrote that she "never thought she'd be the parent who let her kid chew on sticks and eat mud" (but now apparently she is). In the video the kid sticks a stick in the mud and licks it and also dips his fingers into the mud and licks them (repeatedly)
I am totally not judging this parent - I am just wondering if other parents let their kids do this, too. It just never crossed my mind to allow my child to do this (the licking the stick/fingers with mud) (I'd probably just say "yuck!" if DD did that and move her hand away from her mouth). I thought I was a rather easy going mom, but maybe I'm wrong! 
Do you let your DC do this?

No, he is not permitted to eat mud
Sunday we did a carwash in the yard. We cleaned his yard toys and there were big mud piles. I humored him and allowed him to splash in the mud for 5-minutes - but he was not allowed to eat it!

I seriously am just wondering if other moms allow this. It falls under one of those "huh, I never even thought of that" categories for me!

That's beyond disgusting.  I would not allow my child to eat mud. I know kids will do gross things sometimes but I will teach her that mud is not a delicacy.

sometimes I give it to her for dinner if I'm too lazy to make anything for her
but in all honesty, I don't think I'd let her eat mud...

Eating mud is actually pretty dangerous b/c of parasites that get tracked around in the yard from dog, bird, whatever feces. I saw a little boy on a show who went nearly blind b/c of inadvertent ingestion of some mud that had parasite eggs. So, yeah that was an accident and I'm not gonnna stop my kid from going in the yard but would DEF yell NOOOO if I saw my kid purposely munching on some mud!

Flame away, but I am totally judging that mother it's one thing for the kid to put something in their mouth that mommy didn't see or catch in time... but to watch him do it and not stop him??

When he was a baby he used to eat the beach sand....I tried to deter it, but unsuccessfully, so I gave up and just gave him water to wash it down with.
