definitely like my married name better. my maiden name was horrible and almost obscene. i got teased relentlessly. i am so happy to have a nicer married name

Re: Do you like your married name better than your maiden name or is it hyphenated?
I like my married name because no one ever mispronounces it, or makes me spell it 10x before getting it right. I don't really miss my maiden name, although it did take me a year to change it.

My married name is so easy. My maiden name was hard for people to pronounce and spell so I was happy to trade it in.

I like both.
But my SMIL has the same name as me, so I am not hte only Kate Devine.
And I do miss being Kathryn Linton, like Catherine Linton from Wuthering Heighs

Re: Do you like your married name better than your maiden name or is it hyphenated?
My maiden name was very Irish ... my married name is very German ... yet sounds Chinese. When people first meet me, they are very surprised ... thinking I am Oriental. It's often very funny ...

I like both equally. They are rather easy names. My maiden name was twice as short as my married name. Both are 70's sitcom last names

I love the reaction I receive with my married name. I have a Chinese last name but I have blonde hair, blue eyes and VERY fair skin.
I can relate. I haven't changed mine yet but the rare occasion when I use my married name, people can't figure me out. I'm Italian and DH is from South East Asia. There is nothing about me that goes with my married name.

Re: Do you like your married name better than your maiden name or is it hyphenated?
For me it isnt a question of like vs. dislike. Neither one of them are fantastic. I have more of an issue with the fact that my students who are severely speech and language impaired and cognitively delayed can read and pronounce my new last name while full grown adults with MD's, DO's, PsyD's, PhD's and EdD's in my place of work cannot take the time to learn it. Shame on them. If you made it through second grade you can learn my name.
