Do you mind when people just drop by or do you like a warning?
My DH decides an hour before that he wants his Mom and his cousin to come over for dinner! Meanwhile, my house is a DISASTER (3 kids can do that!).. cleaning lady is coming tomorrow  I have to make cupcakes for my sons bday party at school tomorrow and my grocery delivery is coming tonight.. and he can't understand why I'm annoyed 
Soooo.. he just left with the 3 kids to go to my MIL's without me! 
I've always been a give me a little warning kinda person, I have panic attacks if someone stops by unannounced.. I think because of my three kids though.. my house can get really scary!

i hate it when people just stop over!! it is the most frustrating stressful thing. who knows whats lying around or what my plans were. i always call first.

 funny story...I had someone stop by unannounced once and one of my kids had dumped a WHOLE box of tampons on the floor outside the bathroom

I really haven't had experience with this...but I do realize i do this to my sisters WAY too much. I really need to learn to call!! Though I have less opportunity to do this now that I live in NJ...but when I'm at my mom's I constantly drop by my sisters' houses unannounced. BAD idea but I think I figured I'm a sister so I could get away with it!
Thanks for reminding me that I really shouldn't!!!

It depends on who it is. Most of the time I have no problem at all. I have an open door policy. Most of my friends and family know that if they stop by unannounced I might not be available to entertain them - but if they want to play with the kids, dog or chat with Rob they can have at it!
But if it is someone that I am not particuarly close to and it happens to be an off day for me - I would be annoyed.
As to your situation.. I TOTALLY would be irritated.

It depends on who it is and how long they plan on staying. If someone just has to drop something off or whatever and is only going to be a few minutes, I don't mind, but if they want me to take a significant amount of time out of my day and haven't run it by me first, I'm not happy.

I don't care if people just drop by, but on the flip side I can't make any guarentees as to how my house is gonna look! If it's a mess, well, they'll have to deal with it.

That's how I feel. I can also count on one hand the number of times someone dropped in without calling first.
