I too think she's wrong. I do think there are some women who's bodies only want to produce one gender due to pH or something but that's not what your MIL is saying.

I am one of three kids- I have an older sister and a younger brother

My sister has 3 kids- the first two are girls and the last a boy.

Shaun has 3 male cousins that had 2 girls first. 2 of them had boys as their 3rd and one had a girl.

ETA: and i have 2 friends that had 2 boys first and had a girl for their 3rd

There is some (but only some) truth to her logic. You are more likely to have a third of the same gender if you have two. I have two and we really want a , so I am trying to figure out how to tip the odds in my favor. Here are some stats. Gender Stats

My sister had 2 boys then had a girl.

I have 2 girls, I'm convinced if I had a third, it would be a girl.

I don't think this proves her theory, but it does happen. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to it.

LOL!! Your MIL is a funny lady!

DH is a Chem major and studied anatomy and physiology and all that good stuff lol it is 50/50 shot every single time, no matter how many kids you have and what genders they are. I was like are you sure?!! And my OB confirmed it lolol.

A guy that works with my brother has two boys, close in age too - only about a year apart. And now they are pregnant with twins and found out they are both girls! :)

I know they say 50/50 shot everytime but some families really do have more of one sex. My DH father is one of two boys, my DH is one of two boys and I'm having my third boy. MIL and I joke how I didn't have a 50/50 chance, mine is more a 90/10 chance haha. I even try to sway for a girl with last one.

I also know some with four girls and some with four boys. The larger majority I seem to see is the girl girl boy. I see that more often then boy boy girl.

mil is one of 6. It went girl, boy, boy, girl, girl, boy. I know there were also some losses, not sure where they fell.

My mil had twin boys, then a girl.

I have two friends who had two boys, then a girl. Neither of them had any losses aware of.

My best friend had three girls in a matter of 4.5 years.

I have two boys and am convinced if I had another child, which I have no intentions of either way, that we would have another boy.

I actually heard recently (I forgot where) that you're 75% more likely to have a girl if you've already had 2 girls or visa versa. They said it has to do with the x or y sperm being stronger in some cases.

Odds are 50/50 for any birth. That's what studies say. That being said, I know so many couples that have 3 and even 4 of the same gender. So IMO the third will likely be the same if the first 2 are. I'm thinking 75% chance of being the same. I don't agree with what your Mil, but who knows who had miscarriages or not?

I don't know but I am one of 14 granddaughters 0 grandsons. As for great-grandchildren, all 5 are also girls. My grandmother had 4 girls and her 5th child was a boy(my uncle). He was an oopsie per my grandmother. I heard something about the pH of the vagina is genetic and can facilitate one gender over the other and that's why it can run in families. Just hearsay though, not scientific fact.

Although I don't buy the theory, I do think that some men are more likely to have one sex or the other. My mom has her own theory that the older you are when you have kids the more likely the chance you'll have a girl.

I was the youngest grandchild on my father's side and the first and only girl in 38 grandchildren!

I thought I heard that you only have a 25% chance of having the opposite sex after having 2 of the same but I can't remember where I heard it so I have no idea if there's any fact to it
It does seem to be true for a bunch of people I know but obviously not all.
