Do you read to your children?

Im guilty-I really dont-
i dont get reading to infants...
my oldest is 2 and just starting taking an interest in books. before that he would just rip them apart.
But for him to sit more than 3 minutes while i read? impossible!!!

Re: Do you read to your children?

Ryan is 4 months old and we've read to him a few times. There are times when he is calm before bed, and he will just sit in my arms, so I've read to him then. Chat Icon

Re: Do you read to your children?

I read to Emma, usually it was just picture books. Jeremy on the other hand is always on the go and never wanted to sit but he listens to the books I read Emma now.

We read one book at bedtime & then do a story without a book where they fill in the blanks.

On and off. Not any kind of regular routine. She just doesn't sit still for it and wants to grab the book and close it. So I'll take out books and let her play with them and try to tell her what she's looking at.

Re: Do you read to your children?

yes, I do.. I try to do it three times a day, one in the morning, one during the day and one before Jacob goes to sleep..

I must say, he loves it when I read to him, now he turns the pages and I can totally see him following in the book while I read...

I have always read to my daughter, sheis now 2.5 nd reading to me (by memorization of the book). she loves books so I am thankful or that. I read to her only at night now unless she wants to read during the day. she'll be read to in school as well.

Same with us--although she's definitely showing more of an interest now that she ever has and she even says "Book!"

Re: Do you read to your children?

DH and I have been reading stories to Julia at bedtime since she was 5 months old. Julia is so use to it now, that she will walk into our room and pick up the book and bring it to one of us, its so cute.

Re: Do you read to your children?

I read to Alex everyday. However, usually I only get through 1-2 pages before she loses interest, but I do it everyday nonetheless. Lately she has been taking more of an interest in the "touch and feel" books and is engaged for the entire book (gasp!) so just the other day I went out and bought literally ALL the touch and feel books at Barnes and Nobles. Now, when she plays in her room, every day she goes to her bookshelf and pulls out the touch and feel books and gives them to me, one by one, to read to her Chat Icon

yes - we read every day - in addition I put two of Talia's fav. books in her crib and sometimes she "reads" herself to sleep.

I get through quite a few boooks when I read to Kerri.....which is almost everyday. She will sit in my arms and reach out to touch the book as I read.

Re: Do you read to your children?

I've read to Ava every night since she was just a few days old. She loves listening to the stories and turns the pages. She even knows some of her favorite books by name. She even like to sit by herself and turn the pages and read to herself...she's a riot.

Yes, Sarah loves books. She will sit for at least a half hour each day and "read" on her own or she'll bring me book after book to read to her.

We dont have a set routine, but we mostly read at bedtime and if they want me to read to them during the day. They LOVE books, theyre both in a trance, and mommy gets all animated too Chat Icon If we go to library playtimes, Luca sits on strangers' laps if he sees them reading to their kids Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Do you read to your children?

Sidney loves books. In fact I can't read to her before naps or bedtime cause she gets too excited by it. She says (what sounds like) "book" at least 3x a day. But mostly she loves to turn the pages and look for cats or cows. She tore apart our pop up book though...I find little pieces of cow all over the apartment. Chat Icon
