I am reading between boards of responses saying that she doesnt love them, shes not a good mom, she never wanted them etc...
Could that seriously be true?
I mean when they put Gilly in my arms I knew this was for the rest of my life. When she smiles it melts my heart. I cant imagine any mother not feeling love for their child. I just cant agree with that logic...even if she has mental problems. This story makes me so sad.

Drugs take your maternal instinct away!

I don't believe that she doesn't love them. I believe she is mentally instable and on drugs.

I think Britney has some serious postpartum issues and yes I do think it's possible for a mother to not love her child. But I think those mothers have psychological issues. I don't think a "normal" balanced mother could not love her child unless she is suffering from postpartum but I believe that is usually temporary in most cases.

I agree. She obviously has mental issues and an addiction problem. I'm sure at some point she will deeply regret what she has put her children and even her ex husband through. Honestly I'm so sick of hearing about it. Just let the girl get help and recover. I know she's famous but for her children's sake give the family some privacy.

I worked as a social worker on a psych unit and time and time again I would hear "no matter what the child goes through...mommy is always mommy and that child loves mommy unconditionally" and that is why in MOST cases they try to make it right between mother and child. From what I read...I gathered that she wanted to keep the kids. IMO...that has to show some sort of maternal instinct , no? Even if it was odd.

I agree. I think that those moms who do horrible things to their kids have to have some mental issues. I don't understand how you can not love your kids....especially when they are so small and need you.

Re: Do you REALLY think a mother could not love her child? Brit related

Being a mother and feeling such an overwhelming love for my kids, I find it really hard to believe that some women can not love their children.

I honestly believe that Britney loves her boys, I think she is just suffering from some mental issues, and needs help.

E! news is reporting that Britney suffers from bipolar disorder. They are also saying that she started ignoring her doctor's orders right before the head shaving incident occurred.

Hopefully now she will be forced to get the help she needs!

Re: Do you REALLY think a mother could not love her child? Brit related

I've seen first hand what drugs can do to a mother's "love" for her child. When you're that far gone, you don't know any better. They consumer your very being and judgement. You just don't care about anything or anyone but yourself and it's a very sad, sad thing to witness.

Re: Do you REALLY think a mother could not love her child? Brit related

As the daughter of a woman with mental illness, it's not that they do not love their children. It's that they are completely impaired in appropriate ways of showing their love.

Think about it - if everything else is warped, their ability to show proper emotions are warped too.

It's all about them and they can't get out of that mode of thinking and behaving....

I think she got married and had kids too fast. For "norma" people it is alot let alone someone that is in the spotlight all the time.

Re: Do you REALLY think a mother could not love her child? Brit related

I really think it is possible for a mother to not love her children....I know someone whose mom just left her when she was 4.....the mom wasn't on drugs or mentally imbalanced, she just didn't want to be a mom. She has also never contacted the family since she left over 25 years ago...so I would say it is possible to not love your kids

While I can't fathom it, yes I would say it's definitely possible.

There are a number of reasons ranging from ppd, mental illness to just plain not caring.

I believe in Britney's case that she does love her children but she's so screwed up (either drugs/mental illness) she can't get out of her own way.

A close friend of mine was abandoned by her mother a few days after she was born. The mom wasn't suffering from ppd. She didn't want to be a mom.

Re: Do you REALLY think a mother could not love her child? Brit related

I think it is possible for a mother not to love their own child.......and not to have a bond with their on child
look at the mothers who kill their newborn babies or fathers who rape their children

it is possible .......In Britneys case I think she is so LOST she doesnt know what she wants and she needs rehab

Aside from the mental issues... she is also young, never been told no and spoiled with all the money and attention. She didn't have a good role modle of a parent growing up and indulged in fame. Look at her sister! She's what.. only 16 and preggers? Where are the values? The whole family is a train wreck!
