Return it...I do. I mean I appreciate the gift and don't want their intentions to be stuffed away in a box somewhere so I return the items and get something else for him to wear. I just don't say anything to anyone about it.

I do. I do it because it's a waste on everyone's part if my kids will never wear it.
ITA. IF you won't put it on DS why waste the money. Return it for something you like. If she questions you, say it didn't fit

Same here. Although I have to say I have not returned much, most of my family and friends have GREAT taste in clothes for my DD.
