Re: Do you shop at Garage Sales?

I don't do garage sales...

Although I begged my DH to look into one that had kids backyard play toys (swings, etc. ) and he wouldn't.

Re: Do you shop at Garage Sales?

Sometimes if my DH is home on a Sat morning during GS season, I will take a drive all around my neighborhood. I love them. I don't really look them up, just if I see a sign. If you aren't on a main corner, put up a sign on the main corner, either on a pole or on your car winshield. Good Luck!

Re: Do you shop at Garage Sales?

Nope.

My family won't buy anything used (even cars!) though I don't necessarily feel that way it's ingrained. I have bought stuff from ebay.

I also don't think I have patience. How will you know if anyone has anything good?

I am a teacher and find so many good books...well known authors and books for .25 cant beat that when you are spending your own money on books...That is all I have bought but I find local ones and spur of the moment.

Re: Do you shop at Garage Sales?

Absolutely. There are plenty of things I would never buy at a garage sale, like clothes, shoes, coats, purses, etc., but plenty of things I absolutely will buy.

Just last weekend, I bought a 6 piece wicker set of furniture for my porch. They're going for 400+ bucks in the stores and I got it for 50. I bought new cushions, and voila, I can now sit on my porch for a total of 80 bucks.

I also bought, of all things, a beautiful wood radiator cover for the radiator in our bathroom. Who the hell knows where else I would have foudn that?Chat Icon

Re: Do you shop at Garage Sales?

Personally, I don't shop at them...but, I've had 2 of my own garage sales. The house I owned with my ex was on a fairly busy street so, I didn't really need to advertise it.

Re: Do you shop at Garage Sales?

never.... I spend my free time getting rid of our own clutter... Most garage sale stuff is clutter-ish.... so I stay away!

(I do like the tool hunt idea posted above, though!)

I'm not a big garage sale person, but for this reason I think I'll start frequenting them. Books are expensive and I need to build up a classroom library!
