do you think 2 is too young for a carousel party?
I was seriously considering it for Luce's second birthday but I was told he may not enjoy it as much as some of the older kids.
I don't play that. they've had their fun. I want him to LOVE it.
should I look at something more 2 friendly?
TIA

my kids love the carousel and they are 3,2, and 1. I don't know where you are located but the Source mall has a carousel and if you register with them for your dc's b-day I think its free and you can bring up to 10 kids.

I don't think so. In fact, I was throwing the idea around for DDs birthday ever since I heard about this at Prospect Park (I think someone here actually posted about it). Don't be stealing my party date woman

almost 6 months ago if that makes it any better.

I think off the wall is probably more appropriate, but I need time to really think about my options. It takes me FOREVER to make decisions like this....I mean, his 2nd bday only happens once!

My sister just booked my nieces 2nd bday party at the Prospect Park carousel... If your considering this for a summer bday I suggest calling up now- the entire month of June was booked already.

Jess, are you thinking of doing it at Prospect Park? If so, that's where we had Julia's 1st. Julia had a great time and I think would have enjoyed it even more for her 2nd! The kids(who were various ages) had so much fun. It was such a beautiful day and party. The adults had a ball too! I highly recommend it for Luce for his 2nd!

Re: do you think 2 is too young for a carousel party?
Elizabeth would have LOVED that.. she was definitely into the carousel at 2 years old.
We took her to Dutch Wonderland at 18 months and I rode that thing no fewer than 4 times in as many hours... and she was asleep for one of those hours! I would definitely go for it.
If I'm still living in Brooklyn next year I may consider it for DS's second birthday.

Sean isn't a huge fan and Sean isn't afraid of anything .........so from MY experience, I'd say it might be a littel too young -

Re: do you think 2 is too young for a carousel party?
DD's first experience on a carousel was last summer at sesame place.. she was 18 months old and loved it. we live upstate, so the rest of the summer we would go on the carousel in saratoga park- it was a huge hit every time.

Re: do you think 2 is too young for a carousel party?
I think it depends on the child, my DS had a blast on his 1st ever carousel ride at Disney, absolutely loved it but I know 2 yr olds who are scared to go on a swing. So, if Luce enjoys the ride, then by all means do a carousel party! Sounds great. We took our DS to the Nunely's carousel on LI this weekend (same one I rode as a kid) and commented how nice a party there would be.

I think it would be adorable and fine at age 2.
I am SO jealous....DD would LOVE a carousel b-day party, but no locations are really close to us.

We were going to do the private event, but we weren't crazy about the times offered (one too early, the other late..) We ended up doing it during public hours and it worked out FINE! Plus, we saved a bit of money.

Just curious...what else do they do besides ride the carousel? Do they have a party room where you can set up food and what not?

Re: do you think 2 is too young for a carousel party?
My DD was and is frightened of carousels, so it wouldn't have worked for us. 2 is a little early imo, but if your DS loves the carousel then go for it!

I think it depends on the kid. I took DS on the carsousel at the source for the first time when he was 10 months & he loved it! We've been about 5 more times since & he's 14 months now & loves it.

Re: do you think 2 is too young for a carousel party?
We went to a 2yo carousel party last year. I didn't like it. It was loud and everyone was so scattered that no one could talk. A lot of kids didn't seem to like riding the carousel. They were all 1-2 year olds. JMO but when the kids are that young, I like smaller parties at kiddie places where your party is the only one present or at home parties.
I think if the kids were older, it may have been better.

Re: do you think 2 is too young for a carousel party?
Well I think it largely depends on the child. Some kids that age DON"T like carousels but others LOVE it. So you have to know your child. If your child loves the carousel I would do it.
Nunley's carousel (in between LICM and Cradle of Aviation) is indoors. They have a couple of different carousel parties. One I think is a rough rider party but not sure what they do. We are doing one for DD#1's birthday - they have Alice come and read, they do a craft, they play croquet and you ride the carousel. But that is an Alice party. That would probably not be the best for a 2 year old.
