It might be...i just had mine this past saturday and i am 38 weeks this week!! now i have to sort through the mountains of clothing and gifts! the nursery still has to be accessorized and organized and i am too "big" and tired to do this now! i am so so sorry i didn't insist on having the shower earlier. even 35 weeks would have been an improvement. just try to do it before you get too exhausted and big to organize everything!

there's really nothing I can do to change it, I think I'd just be upset if I didn't make it, and then do not have one. But I will hope for the best!

Yes, it might be. While you have time until the EDD, past 35 weeks I started to feel really uncomfortable. I don't even feel like going to BRU (really!) at almost 37 weeks.
And that's assuming you don't go early!

Re: Do you think 35 1/2 weeks preggo is cutting it close...
I think earlier would be better.
I'm in my 35th week now and I have to say a) I'm glad it's over my discomfort has skyrocketed and energy plummeted and b) we've been working on getting what's left to get for the last few weeks, the more time to do that the better. If I was getting everything this week I'd be really overwhelmed with what's left, everything that needs to be put away and washed and put together, and thank you's.

Earlier is better.
My sisters planned it for 36 weeks. I didn't make it.
It's not the norm to go into labor before 36 weeks but it's certainly a possiblity.
Also returning things (which is always necessary) would be a pain when you're not feeling so great.

If you miss it, did they have something for you after the baby was born? I just wonder how that works out. I guess I just need to pray I make it, LOL.

I had mine at 36 weeks. I would have preferred it earlier because I was uncomfortable at that point and it was exhausting.

i had mine yesterday and i am 37 1/2 weeks, and now i have to go through stuff, return, wash, etc, i would have preferred it earlier but this was one of the only dates that all the moms were available, i was so nervous i was going to give birth before it though and all the time and $$ my DH put into it would have been wasted, but luckily it all worked out Good luck

Re: Do you think 35 1/2 weeks preggo is cutting it close...
Yes, it is cutting it close, but that's exactly when mine was. I was nervous about it being so close, getting everything done afterwards, or having the baby early...thankfully it's all worked out for us, and that's the only time my OOT family could come down.
I think it depends on how you've been feeling too. I've actually been feeling great and have gotten almost everything done. If you're tired then, enlist the help of your loved ones to help you after the shower, so you're ready.

I don't think so, My shower for DD was at 36 weeks. I was a bit uncomfy opening presents cause of the belly but that's what you have helpers for.

The most important thing to know is who bought your car seat since you can't take the baby home without one.
My mother bought an enormous amount of clothes. I borrowed a bouncy seat until the shower. The bassinet I was borrowing from a friend, but needed it a lot sooner than expected.
It's completely workable. It's amazing how little you can get by with if necessary.

I had mine at 37.5 weeks and it was ok. I had to sleep for a day before and a day after. DS was born 10 days later and in the in between my mom and I did the last bit of shopping.

It'll be fine, although at that point was when I started feeling very uncomfortable.
Also it'll just make you work a bit quicker to get everything together.
We had ours at 28 weeks or so & DH put everything together & then got baby's room in order.
It'll be fine though

I know, I always think of how little my mom had with us growing up. She had a green bouncy seat and a crib, and got by just fine with 7 kids. Carseat is a good point. I mean who knows if anyone will even buy those pricey items.
Glad everything worked out for you and your little one!
