Do you think dressing room mirrors are accurate?

I was trying on bathing suits and didn't want to throw up. Now I get home and look in my mirror and ugh! What gives? Chat Icon

(Elaine walks back in, still in the dress)

Elaine: Wait a minute (claps hands) Wait a minute. I know what's going
on here. Skinny Mirrors! (she pushes George and Jerry in their
respective chests, with her arms extended -- one arm for each of them --
they recoil with surprise)

Jerry: What?

Elaine: Skinny Mirrors! Barney’s has Skinny Mirrors, they make you
look, like, 10 pounds lighter.

Jerry: Oh, you're crazy.

Elaine: Am I? (hands on hips) Do you think I would have bought this
dress if I looked like this at Barney’s?

George: (to Jerry, as Jerry nods in agreement) You know I think she
might have something there.

(Kramer enters, seeing Elaine -- his head and upper body lurches
backwards)

Kramer: Whoa. What are you all dressed up for?

Elaine: Oh I’m returning this dress to Barney’s.

Kramer: Good idea.

I always felt that dressing rooms were the opposite, that they made you look like crap because of the poor lighting. Chat Icon

I think it's the horrible lighting. Stores are stupid...if they had nice warm lighting in each dressing room, they would sell more clothes!

Re: Do you think dressing room mirrors are accurate?

I always look worse in the dressing room. If they had skinny mirrors, everything would look skinny, your face, the writing on your shirt, etc

Re: Do you think dressing room mirrors are accurate?

okay, what about Marshall's in general. I'm saying I looked much better in the 3 way mirror at the store than at home in my mirror. I think it's because I stretch my neck around trying to see my arse at home and it makes my body look odd. Well, the suit was bought so I'll see in pics I guessChat Icon

Re: Do you think dressing room mirrors are accurate?

The lighting at Ann Taylor Loft(s) is the best around....I don't know how they do it, but you manage to see yourself but none of the bad. Some lighting is so poor. It's upsetting.

Re: Do you think dressing room mirrors are accurate?

Hate flourescent lighting!

I think many dressing room mirrors are inaccurate!

Some aren't.

In the past, I've done a little experiment...I put my hand up to the mirror, about an inch away. If my hand looks the same as in real life, I think the mirror is accurate. Sometimes my hand has looked doubled!!Chat Icon

Chat Icon I know what you mean. I get so mad when I see that stores have the slanted mirrors! Next time you go shopping, be on the look out for the tall mirrors that have the top part touching the wall but the bottom is about 2 inches away from the wall!! (These usually aren't the ones in the dressing room--they are the ones right outside the dressing rooms.) GRRR!
