Do you think exceptionally good looking women are discriminated against?

I think in some ways very pretty women are discriminated against. I won't get into details, but I was wondering what others thought and any experiences. Sorry, don't know how to add a poll on my iPad.

Hmmm... You mean like, people just assume they are dumb?

I don't know, most likey some people do. I used to work with a someone VERY beautiful (former model) who happened to have been VERY smart! I was one of the people who interviewed her for the position and it never crossed my mind that she might not be. But I do remember thinking how pretty she was and that it would be nice to be surrounded by beauty at work every day. I love beautiful women: they are nice to look at!

Yes, I do. I've seen it with some attractive friends that I have. I think girls that are truely beautiful , and then add some gorgeous trendy clothes, are looked at as stuck up & even slutty.

Yes. People are uncomfortable around beauty.

BUT.. also to VERY unattractive people just as well. Or extremelly overweight, etc...

I think anyone that does not fit the "average" look/mold is someone discriminate against.

Yet, I still think it's much easier for beautiful women than ugly women.

No, not really. As PP said, everyone is judged for something. I don't think as a general "rule" beautiful people are discriminated against. Some people may make negative assumptions about them because they are beautiful. Some other people may make positive assumptions about them because they are beautiful. People will judge you based on how you look, how you dress, how you carry yourself, how you speak, what you eat...pretty much everything. Sometimes those judgments may be right, many times they will be wrong. That's just life. I don't think beautiful are at a disadvantage because of their beauty, and to me, that is what discrimination is.

Yes... but I also think they have many advantages that average looking people don't. So I don't spend too much time feeling badly for them.

I would say in VERY few circumstances, yes.

I think people with low self esteem are going to be nasty towards anyone, IMO.

But yes, I think when people are not comfortable with themselves, they are going to take it out on others who seem like they are, or are good looking.

People who are happy and comfortable with themselves simply aren't nasty to others.

Yes- I have seen it happen.

I have some friends who are exceptionally gorgeous and I have witnessed other women being mean to them because of it. This has mostly occured in the workplace. Meanwhile, my friends are truly nice people and do not deserve that treatment.

On another note, I once worked with a woman who was especially cold to me, and I could not figure out why. It really bothered me and caused tension. She finally told me that she "didn't like skinny girls, since their lives are much easier".

I told her that I was actually born missing my right ear, so my life was not necessarily easier than hers, and my childhood was certainly not easy. The look on her face was a mix of shock and embarrassment. Never make assumptions about people based on what YOU see.

No. I think that when they are treated like normal people they think they are being treated poorly because it is not the normal for them. With that said, I think everyone experiences discrimination in different forms no matter who they are. Sometimes beautiful people are treated poorly because the other person is insecure.

I don't think they are looked at any differently then anybody else. I think that the kind of person you are, how you carry yourself, how you appear are what make that dicrimination. Example....2 very very beautiful women I know, both smart, both successful. 1 is a doll. Always smiling, happy, like make you vomit she's so freaking perfect, but she easily makes friends BECAUSE she is outgoing and friendly. You see her and just want to talk to her. The 2nd friend has few friends, and people dislike her. She rarely smiles, and always looks like someone peed in her cereal. I think it's more about how you are then who you are.

Not very often and under specific circumstances, but I think it happens, yes.

We're human - we judge based on appearance, whether the person is exceptionally good looking, exceptionally bad looking or whatever else in between.
