Do you think it's a waste of money
to have someone come in and do a spring cleanup on your property? Dh wants to do this but I think we should do this ourselves. I'm just trying to watch our money...

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
We have a landscaper for mowings but we always do the spring cleaning ourselves....we dont think it is worth the money. My DH also does his own fertilizing.

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
NO. I am on half an acre with a lot of trees - we closed in the end of december, but the house was empty all fall, needless to say there are a TON of leaves. It took me three days to pickup the leaves just in the front yard. I am totally paying someone to come clean up the backyard. it would take me a month.

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
It depends- our yard is such a mess and it's overwhelming. If it were up to me, I'd have someone come and do it for us. Are there are lot of other house projects that need your attnetion that you can do yourselves? Sometimes, even when something's pricey, it's well worth the time it saves you.

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
If you have a big piece of property with unknown plantlife (poison oak/ivy etc), then no it's not a waste of money.
If not, then you guys can totally do it.

We have 100x100 property. It's just very overwhelming and so much easier to pay someone to do it.

don't think it's a waste at all. I can't do a great job like the landscapers. I do a fall and spring cleanup every year.

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
Okay...next question....
How much does it cost for a spring cleanup?

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
For fall/spring cleanup I think it is worth it. For everything else you can do yourself including air rating the lawn. This is what we did last fall and so happy we did.

The guy we use I think charges $200-$250. Our property is 70x100 with the backyard measuring 50x100 and the front probably 20x100. We also have 2 huge trees and then our neighbore has a huge that leaves fall on our property too.

I think the guy I use for my parents house is around $200 for a clean-up. Their property is 75x150

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
Not a waste of money at all. DH loves his yard work, but having someone come in and help do the cleanup and stuff is so worth it. Especially since we are at the base of a wooded hill with lots and lots of trees.

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
Totally worth it.
It's probably the cheapest labor you'll find when it comes to home projects. You're better off putting your own personal time into another project where the labor would be more than double.
We have a crew come in for a Spring and Fall cleanup each year. We pay $600, but we live on acre in a heavily treed neighborhood. They also clean up and turn over all the flowerbeds.

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
Nope...it's worth every penny. We have a landscaping company come for weekly maintenance, but I love when they come for the spring cleanup. They just freshen up the look of the lawn so much better than we could EVER do!!

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
Totally worth it. We don't get it done - my DH insists on doing it himself, but I wish he would just hire someone, b/c it's a lot of work and he doesn't have a lot of free time as it is.

My inlaws use Marcelo's and it is $170 for the spring cleanup and we decided we are going to do it this year.
Someone on here recommended them and my inlaws loved them.

Re: Do you think it's a waste of money
We do it ourselves...we bought a leave sucker/blower that mulches and hooks rightup to the garbage pale....it's super easy. Personally for our 1/4 acre property I think it's a waste of money- it takes one nice day outside with your DH.
