Do you think it's "fair" price? 5K for Labor for bathroom remodel

$5K labor only. All materials provided by homeowner (features, drywall, faucet, tile, window, etc..).

5x8 bathroom

Labor includes:
- Removal of old bathroom
- removal of all drywall down to the studs
- Intall new drywall
- install tile, features, faucets
- install new window.

I have no idea if the price is "just right", too high, too low.

Floor tile, and wall tile? Is the wall tile just in the shower area, or the whole room? If it's in the non-shower area, is it floor to ceiling tile, or just half-way?

Well since it includes demo work, then yes, I'd say that this is a fair price.

I'm having my bathroom redone now and I'm only paying $2650.00. That includes install of the new fixtures, switching around/moving fixtures. New tile, painting, drywall, electric, moving a doorway/closing up a doorway, removing a closet, etc. I had to pay for materials, but they ran me around $1200.00 for everything.

We are looking to have our bathroom redone and happened to see an add on the placemat at a diner yesterday ...

I think it was $3650 (or so) ... I believe DH was going to call this week to check it out.

Included demo/removal of old, basic white tub, toilet, shower tile, vanity, undermount sink and fixtures (I can't remember the other details).

There are always a bunch of ads like that in the Pennysaver for around $3000. I think they just use the lowest quality stuff.

It's floor and bathtub surround. I pick and pay for all the materials though.

Not a bad price. Pretty much standard for labor only on a bathroom demo & remodel.

Re: Do you think it's "fair" price? 5K for Labor for bathroom remodel

Too much.
My parents did two bathrooms for $8,000.00 one was down to the stud. we did demo ourselves.
a contractor once told us that demo is like nothing. no real cost, it takes such little time for a crew to demo, they'd know off 300.00 if it was done ourselves...

ETA: tiles were purchased at home deopt by us for $500.00. Contractor supplied, toilet, tub and vanity. you had to pick out the rest (light and towel racks and medicine chest).

Seems a bit high if all you're tiling is the shower area and the floor...what are you doing on the walls around the bathroom?

Usually when a contractor says you supply the materials he is referring to fixtures like tub, tile, faucets but not sheetrock, insulation and in-wall plumbing stuff.

I'd say it's fair for basic tilework and installation. Ours was a little more but it included the drywall, paint, ventilation fan and ceiling lights and structural stuff. We supplied the tiles, grout, vanity faucets, sink & toilet, etc.

I just want to add something about the demo, demo-ing is "easy" getting rid of the contents of a bathroom including, tib & toilet is not. Garbage disposal is one of the most costly things contractors face these days. And remember if you're using a licensed and insured contractor that WILL increase the price vs someone that has no insurance if the burn or house down or flood it with broken pipes.
