Do you think schools will be closed Monday?
I'm wondering.......lack of gas for bus...aren't some still used as shelter?
what do u think? have you heard anything yet?

many schools have stated they will open on wednesday. Not sure what will happen with schools that got flooded. I know my nieces schools first floor took on water. I'm sure they will have to get it professionally cleaned for contamination protection.

Do you think schools will be closed Monday?
Levittown school district is open Monday. They are also open on Tuesday (instead of having off for election day)
Eta: Part of the administrative building is being used as a shelter currently.

NB is closed on Monday for Students and open for Staff, and children report back to school on Tuesday, but there will be no bussing and you must brown bag it

We are in sachem and there are still many polls, wires and trees down. I don't know how they plan on opening with all these safety issues.

Do you think schools will be closed Monday?
I can't imagine how schools could be open. Most of them are probably still without power and haven't had food deliveries.
Also, a huge parking lot full of school buses were in O'side.. and they were flooded. I can't imagine they'd be operable by Monday.

Some schools are also still being used as shelters for people who lost their homes. Not sure how that's going to work....

How is Bloomberg going to reasonably send kids into schools that are shelters? There are stabbings, drugs and absolute filth. Scary

A lot of the evacuation shelters have turned into homeless shelters. They aren't letting news crews into the shelters but occupants were filmed outside talking about the deplorable conditions. I think the shelter I saw was in the LES.

Oceanside is opening Tuesday-if the schools have power..
East Rockaway High School was hit so bad that the students are going to another building in a different town....my hearts go out to them....My wonderful alma-mater!

Riverhead school district has been open since Wednesday, however they announced they would be excusing all absences. They also said they would be open on election day...

Northport is open on Monday.
yes but with NO buses on Monday...and i think Tuesday? that's a lot of folks showing up to drop off kids= a lot of traffic and chaos 
i think they should wait until they can actually bus their students safely!

Bay Shore is open Monday and Tuesday. They have bus service. I can't go home so I'll have to drive them, but since I don't have much gas... This should be interesting.
