Our roads have been plowed pretty well. They just need salt, because obviously the little bit of snow left behind on them has frozen up!

why can LI not efficiently remove snow?

I live upstate in a suburban area. We got 9 inches of snow today - first notable storm in 2 years. The plow just came by - you can literally see the pavement - third pass today. My sister lives in Levittown and has seen 1 plow?!?! I just don't get it. It snows on LI every single year why do they not have better snow removal.

I will say that up here they really encourage people to work from home if possible, which reduces the number of cars on the road. They also do not allow overnight street parking during the winter in my town. Cities issue snow emergencies and limit street parking to enable more efficient plowing.

We're suppose to go down to LI tomorrow to meet my new nephew so I hope the roads are better by 7/8 pm.

I have to say where I live, in the Town of Islip, they plowed so well there is barely snow on my road. The plows came by a lot and I live on a side street in a development so it's not like it's a main road. Despite that, schools are closed but I figure it's because of the ice.

I need to move to your development because I'm town of islip and my road looks like an ice rink. Dh took my truck to work today because I'm not going anywhere and the car sucks on ice and snow. I can't wait to move and never see snow again.

My son had a 2hr delay. My DH took him, no way was I going to risk getting stuck in the snow with my Accord. Took the bus into the city, which, wasn't bad. I did see a few people fall because it was icy or wet on the sidewalks.

It has taken my neighbor an hour and eventually a tow to get out of his own driveway. Glad our school is closed!

Re: Do you think they'll be school tomorrow?

DH cleared everything last night and we woke up this morning and were plowed back in.
What a mess.
And I hear the roads are a sheet of ice. Tons of accidents
Snow can go fuk itself.

My husband and I just drove around... and unless there is a miracle... I doubt there will be

The streets by me are barely plowed and I can't see a bus being able to turn around the corners.

Sunrise hwy service road going to Brookhaven hospital was a mess...

Our tax dollars hard at work. As usual.

Highest taxes in the nation for the worst services.

ETA- I bet NYC streets are pristine.

They're not. My son's school was atrocious, not plowed on the side streets around it. The actual principal was standing there helping kids walk over the snowbanks and into the building

I'm going to have to amend my first response. Somebody important must live by me because when I left my development, the roads were a disaster, even the main roads.
